Hi everyone,

Just confirming that our Christmas Party is on 21 Dec (Sat) at the Rongs' place, 9G Yuan Ching Road #17-74 Lakeside Tower. Thank you doctors! Let's start at 7pm, and remember to help clean up!

All families and friends welcome.

It's pot-luck so please confirm your dishes by email! Also, let's have gift exchange? Suggest a budget of $15-20.

Blessings,
James

No problem. Salad made by doctors are always healthier and nicer.

As mentioned, cous cous salad plus one more dish. Yanrong, can look at online recipes and experiment! This is the only time that you will get ready guinea pigs for you.

As always, plus try to bring dishes that are evenly spread out among carbs, vegs, protein and dessert.

So far, we have:

Carb
Cous cous salad - Serena & James

Veg
Salad - Rongs

Protein
Roast pork - Louise
Chicken wings - Lee Sisters

Dessert

Drinks
(I presume the Rongs' will help with this?)

Hi everyone, may I propose something? Bee Tin, Eileen and I would like to belanja you all for Christmas. As thanksgiving for our children’s PSLE we thought of getting a caterer for our party so that we can ease everyone from cooking. Now, it’s just an idea.

However, if everyone thinks that, “Mannn, they took us the privilege to show case our cooking skill” then we won’t be party pooper. Please let us know if our idea is acceptable before we make anyone angry. Hee Hee.

Thanks

Hi everyone, and Joseph, Bee Tin and Eileen especially,

Thanks for your ideas and enthusiasm. Joseph, on your suggestion to make the gift exchange open to 'new but unused' items, I think it's a great idea and anyone with such items is more than welcome to bring these as gifts (as long as they're wrapped nicely). However, if people want to buy new things, I think this is also ok.

On the idea for catering in thanksgiving for the end of PSLE, while we all do already celebrate with you, I think that having your kids with us would be privilege enough. I personally think that regardless of the activity, it is more fun and better for our group dynamics if everyone has the chance to contribute in their own way, be it big or small. While it may be easier for less people to do more, we inevitably share less of ourselves and it becomes less of a truly communal activity. It's for this same reason that I think we gain also from rotating our meeting venues and worship leaders. We all end up learning more about ourselves and each other this way. It is always a joy and excitement for me to see the different things that people bring. Remember Jo's beautiful pinwheel tarts last year? Or Yan Rong's classic salad (wonder how many types of nuts he will put in this year ;) )

On the cleaning up bit, I honestly don't think it has to be any effort at all. Everyone can wash and bring back their own dishes, and if we use disposable tableware it all just goes into a black bag, end of story. Easier still if people da bao stuff in disposable containers. Those who prefer can just da bao, no issue at all. Jie Yao, we know you are very busy with family, so just bring your baby. Don't worry, we won't eat him ;) Also, other guests don't need to be obliged to bring anything.

What do the rest think?

James

Yeah I agree with James; Catering would take away the colour that we have on the dining table every year.

I'll see what I feel like cooking on the day and I'll toss something up!

Cheers

Thanks Louise,

Thanks for the prayer.

We are praying hard that our dad won't experience any pain till we are home as we fix his operation appointment on 7th Dec.
If he experience any pain when we are away, he will have to be admitted immediately which we hope will not happen.

Bee.

Cous cous is considered carbo, though a light one. Just to confirm, no traditional salad from Rongs this year right? What time would you like us to go over?
