Chief of Army Staff Chhatra Man Singh Gurung on Monday said the Nepal Army plans to develop it’s newly-inaugurated Integrated Army Training Centre as the best training centre for junior military personnel in the South Asian region.

The Army has developed a 10-year master plan that came into force two years ago to develop the training centre that sprawls across a 1,750 acre plot at Saljhandi. The facility was inaugurated on Sunday.
Since its establishment in 2010, 880 personnel of the NA have received training in the centre. Currently, 374 soldiers are undergoing various trainings and courses in the centre. The centre, the compounds of which stretch from the plain lands of the Tarai to the hills of the Chure region, offers courses to junior commissioned officers, non-commissioned officers and young officers in the rank of second lieutenant, according to Commandant Col Naresh Chandra Bhatta. There are four schools, including a recruit training company, battalion support weapon training wing and a signal training school, in the centre.
Bhatta said plans are underway to establish a ranger training school and introduce foreign soldiers to trainings in the centre.
