The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has signed a contract with Jay Janta Pvt Ltd to operate double decker night buses in the Capital city.
Despite controversy surrounding Jay Janta that it made millions of rupees reportedly through unfair means while putting up hoarding boards at several places in the Capital, the KMC awarded the tender to the organisation.
However, KMC Spokesman Gyanendra Karki said Jay Janta was the only company to respond to the KMC’s announcement for bidding.
He also informed that the office is preparing to start night buses service as soon as possible. “We are coordinating with the police for security,” said Karki. He said regular meetings were being held with stakeholders.
Two-storey buses will be seen plying on the Ring Road within a month if the KMC plan sees the light of day.
