The portions in Hong Kong were shot showing Ajith's introduction stunt scene set against the skyscrapers, Hong Kong airport, and the sea with the help of Chinese action choreographers. The crew shot schedules in Theni and Ooty and other locations in South India during the filming. The film finished its talkie portion in early September 2008, and the songs were canned in India as well as parts of Switzerland.[5][6][7] The film, initially described as a "musical action comedy". The film previously referred to as Akbar, Ramakrishnan and Anthony Gonsalves[7] was christened as Aegan, a name of Shiva.

The soundtrack of Aegan was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja as was the film score. It was noticeably, the third time Yuvan was scoring music for an Ajith Kumar film, after Dheena (2001) and Billa (2007), the songs of which had been very popular and went on to become chartbusters.[22]

The soundtrack released on 9 October 2008,[23] at a private ceremony at the Hello FM Studios by composer Yuvan Shankar Raja as the lead cast and the director were away shooting the video for the song in Switzerland.[citation needed] The album features 6 tracks overall, including one of the songs ("Hey Salaa") repeated at the end.

agree very much....never have i seen a all decent songs of a movie affected by poor pre song seqeunces...and also over all the film was quite noisy and annoying at times..a prev movie i fet the same was gemini...but i din feel bad fr visiting the theatre though....

Anon 1, hmm.. the second half was quite boring indeed..

Anon 2 very valid points indeed. I too was shocked at Surya's reaction to the villain's misbehavior with the girl. It was as if whenever Surya wanted, the villain was gullible. The BGM was the worst I heard in several years now.

Ebrahim, I guess 'Tamil movies' and 'expectations' must be consider as oxymoron. Sure recipe for disappointment.

Naren, true about songs. IMHO, a song should be nicely set-up with some events, so that the audience don't find it disjointed. In Ayan, it was apparent that the director just wanted to insert the songs into the movie somehow. You can also include the title song, which was neither in the audio CD, nor in the movie. I am thankful for that.

XXX, LOL.. superb satire. Enjoyed everything.. the best was the subtle message you conveyed - "Excess weight will kill you". :)
