7:30 PM - 9:30 PM12/3/2015 Presented by Clive Young, Film Historian
Featuring lots of exciting, rare footage, this fast paced multi-media program will chronologically trace the history of the original Star Wars Trilogy – A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, that writer/director George Lucas created between 1975 and 1983.
This program is intended for both casual and die-hard fans of all ages, and explores Lucas’s inspirations for the characters, stories, and settings in the original trilogy. It also follows the backstage drama behind all three films, from writing and casting the movie, to the groundbreaking special effects and challenging productions (each movie was predicted to be a failure). Finally, the program examines the legacy of the Star Wars franchise today and its on-going impact on pop culture.
The new Star Wars Movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is hitting theaters on December 18, 2015, and is the first new Star Wars film in more than a decade. In anticipation of the new movie coming out, come to the library and check out how it all began!
