Kidney Transplant Update - 10/15/2010

For those recently joining this list, Bethany's friend Mary, donated a kidney to Bethany and it was sucessfully transferred from MAry's body to Bethany's on Wednesday.  Both Bethany and Mary have been in a lot of pain today and neither have been able to keep much (if anything) down, but they are both making progress.  In fact, Mary was removed from all IVs today.
Bethany was moved down to room 4271 this evening - only two rooms up from 4269, where Mary is staying.
Mary is starting to be able to get out into the hallway and take walks.  I'm sure she will be visiting Bethany's room from time to time. 
With the exception of the pain that comes with surgery, Bethany is feeling better than she has felt in years and is wanting to get out of bed, but is still on complete bed rest. She should be allowed to get out of bed sometime tomorrow (Saturday).

Below are directions for finding their rooms:
Come into the main entrance of the University hospital on University Boulevard and ask how to find the central elevators.
Take these elevators to the 4th floor. When you get off the elevator, turn right and then turn immediately right again and go down the hall (toward the east).  Go through the double doors and to the end of the hall. Turn right and go to the end of that hall and turn left. Both rooms are on your right.
