Dancing today

Marvin will be dancing today. I will not. I have CERT training.

Marvin and I will not dance next week. The following week I assume we will not have dancing as it is July 4th.

See you all dancing July 11th.

Do you like International Style? Or should we ask Nickie if she can teach American style? Or find another teacher? Jim asked some good questions last week.

I will rejoin dance class next Wednesday, 6/27, after my return from Denver.

For now, I'm okay with Nickie as our primary instructor and am okay with international style rumba. I am concerned that we will not be able to garner sufficient weekly participants to maintain ADC's interest in having her teach us.

Dear Beth Am Ballroom Dancers,

Perhaps Ellen Schwartz told you, but I called her back too late to be your teacher, she had already found someone.  Besides I need $100 per hour to teach-and she couldn't guarantee that.  Still I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Donna Frankel and I teach (for 30 years) on the dance faculty at Foothill College.  I teach everything from Israeli dance-yes I am Jewish-a member of Beth David in Saratoga, to American Ballroom, Country Line, International Folk and Classical Ballet.  I no longer teach ice dancing and tap-but can coach these as well.  I reduced my weekly classes down to 14 this year, so no longer teach on the dance faculty of Mission, De Anza, and West Valley Colleges-as I have for some 20+ years.

I have a wonderful American Ballroom Dance class at Foothill College starting July 3-Aug. 10 and running for 6 weeks, Tues. and Friday nights from 6-9pm.  You will learn Meringue, Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango, Cha cha, East Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step and Rumba in the beginning class.  A review of at least 6-8 steps in each of these dances, plus Samba, Bolero, Viennese Waltz, West Coast Swing and Country Two Step in Intermediate.  The price for the 36 hours of dance instruction is just $31-plus student fees, and you can still dance with Beth Am on Wed. nights.  The down side is I need 3 more students by this Friday (June 22) who are able to get registered on line with Foothill-and it is a poor process-requiring some 8-10 pages of stuff, then you wait for your student portal and to be issued a student ID, then you can add my class-or the class gets cancelled.  I have 17 eager students-no partners necessary-and don't want to disappoint them or me or my boss.  The good news-is that this summer we will spend a Friday night learning Klezmer dances (yours truly is teaching) to live music, have a dance party/field trip on another Friday night (I know, I'd like to be in shul on Friday nights-but this is when they could give me the class) and our class will perform at a retirement/nursing home-a real mitzvah I do 5 times a year-a different place each time.

I am attaching a flier, but check out my web site for dance trips plus a list of all my classes.  Come try them out-but first be so kind as to register-at least 3 of you-in Foothill Ballroom Summer class.

I am worried that the attachments did not attach.  Hopefully you will see them now.  Again this is not to take the place of your Temple Beth Am Wed. night Ballroom Dancing-but for those who want to learn American style and have a group class 36 hours costs $31 plus student basic fees per person, no partners needed-we rotate everyone with or without a partner.

Please let your friends and neighbors know.  If you know of a high school student-they can take the course at Foothill College free and receive both High School PE credit and 1 unit of transferable college credit simultaneously if their counselor or principal will sign a form that they are a serious student.
