Hello All,
Please see the note, and information below, from Efrat in our group. I've seen these interactive performances and they are great. I highly recommend going if you can.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi friends,
I wanted to notify you of an event that is not directly related to our Kevah
meetings. However, in my mind, it somewhat complements them, as it is
related to the Israeli independence day and to our Jewish-Israeli culture/s.
On the Israeli Independence Day (Monday, April 15th) my friend, Ofra and her
company, are presenting at the JCC. Ofra is the director of the Jewish
Circle Theatre, a new company that its mission is "to bridge communities
through compelling and thought provoking live theatre, fostering greater
understanding of Jewish people and Jewish cultures."
The play is What's Up Israel? This is a playback performance (improv)
dedicated to Israeli Independence Day. The audience tells their stories and
the performers transform these stories into theatrical narratives using
movement, music, and dialogue. See below the flyer for details. The actors
and the director will stay after the show for an open conversation with the
audience.
Best. Efrat.

Israel's Independence Day is just around the corner, and we are preparing for a special Playback performance that is dedicated to your stories about…Israel, what else? What's Up Israel? is an improv that takes the stories and associations of audience members regarding Israel as the starting points for each segment.
JCT views these shared memories and poignant moments as opportunities to reflect and expand personal stories while gaining another dimension of experience and mutual appreciation within a safe, honest, and uplifting artistic context. If you want to experience the most authentic and intriguing community Israel Independence Day event, mark your calendar for April 15th and join us at 7:30 PM for a festive night at the JCC of the East Bay in Berkeley.

About:
Jewish Circle Theatre Jewish Circle Theatre (JCT) is a Jewish-Israeli theatre company that produces diverse theatre works rooted in Jewish traditions and Israeli culture. Our mission is to build a cultural bridge between Israel and the world, producing and performing theatre based on Jewish heritage and inspired by contemporary Israeli culture.
What people are saying:
“We were a mixed group of American Jews and Israelis and loved how it made us feel and think about our identities, stereotypes, and relationships with people from the other culture... We shared intimate histories, laughed at differences around waiting in lines, and reflected on the reality of living in a country with daily terrorism threats. In short, through the production and our conversation that followed, we came to know each other much better.”
Elizabeth Friedman Branoff, following the “Same Am – Different Language” premiere in Berkeley, June 2012
"Playback Theater was an unexpected and delightful surprise. Group of talented actors so intuitive, so in sync with one another. We laughed, we cried, we released...Catharsis. What a gift."Marla Rosen, Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay, 2011 “It was a pleasure to have Playback theater back to the Museum this spring! Their performance was engaging and incredibly touching…
Ilana Vasconcelos. Public Programs Coordinator, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, 2010 "hamon todah for bringing your craft, such a blend of skill, heart, listening, compassion, amplification, and mirroring, an experience I never imagined could be possible. I'm so proud to have had Netivot Shalom's sacred home be touched by the Playback Theater's magic."
Rabbi Menachem Creditor, Congregation Netivot Shalom
