Hi
Everyone :)
Hope you all had amazing, relaxing (and
productive... maybe? :P) holidays. Now let's cut to the chase and see what
Betapsi has been up to during the week, and what's on the agenda for the coming
days.
Betapsi Gozo Training Session
The Betapsi Executive Board spent a day and a half in Gozo to specifically discuss past and future events. All day long, the executive members talked about changes to be done to present events, while discussing potential new events, both leisure and educational. The exec. also discussed the results received from the feedback you gave us on the feedback forms. Student-Staff Seminars, and possible other venues for the SSS, the role of active members within Betapsi, and plans for future meetings with lecturers, among other important things were also brought up during this stay in Gozo.
Through team-building sessions, exec. members also had the opportunity to get to know each other well, so that they are able to work as a team more effectively throughout the rest of their 2014-2015 term.
Richmond Foundation – Fundraising Walk
Luckily enough, the weather was on our side
this time round, as representatives from Betapsi participated in the Richmond
Foundation Walk, which was held on the 27th of April. Each
participant donated 10 euros to Richmond Foundation, in order to aid them in
their cause to:
• alleviate the stigma from mental health
• provide assistance to people with various mental health related issues
• help adults and children with severe/challenging behaviour to integrate in the community through various programmes.
Betapsi congratulates Richmond Foundation, and everyone who took part in this walk, or contributed in one way or another, for this success, and wishes the best of luck in their mission to make the lives of people in need a better one!
EFPSA Congress – RAWRMANIA
Betapsi EB Members Clara Chetcuti (International Officer) and Nicola Falzon (Eductational Officer) went to the 28th Annual EFPSA Congress, which is being held in Baile Felix, Romania. Since Clara is the Member Representative of Betapsi and Maltese Psychology students in EFPSA, she is following the MR Programme, while Nicola is following the Scientific Programme. They will also be participating in a Social Programme. Through these programmes, they will be meeting with psychology students from all over Europe.
Clara and Nicola are keeping us all updated
on their ‘EFPSA Adventure’ through a series of Blogs and Vlogs. In their first
Blog, they give us all a detailed report on their 2 day journey from Malta to
Baile Felix, which as you’ll all see, was an unexpectedly hectic journey. The
blog can be found in the link below:

The first vlog, entitled ‘The Journey’,
can also be found in Betapsi’s Youtube Channel, which I will also be speaking
about further on in this newsletter. You can find Clara’s and Nicola’s vlog,

Betapsi exec. members and active
members will be helping in the carwash itself. Betapsi members will also be

MMSA Organisations Gathering
Betapsi representatives Petra Borg, Bernard Laus and Steve Borg attended the MMSA Organisations Gathering 2014. This event was an opportunity to celebrate the collaborations that MMSA had with different organisations, as well as to introduce the newly elected MMSA Board of Directors. Following a brief presentation by the President of MMSA Robert Cachia, Vice President for External Affairs Tara Giacchino and Policy Committee Chair Sander Grima, the newly elected Board was introduced. Refreshments were served at the end of the event.
Betapsi would like to wish the best of luck
to the newly elected BD! We hope to continue our work together to represent
students.
AISEC – Global Citizen: Social Wellbeing Student Exchanges
This summer, AIESEC, is offering great exchange opportunities for UoM students. You may find the booklet with all of the Projects happening this summer in the following link: http://issuu.com/aiesecuommarketing/docs/booklet
Some projects directly target students studying courses in social wellbeing, and could boost one’s experience within the field. Since most of the opportunities will be taking place in helping children in orphanages from around the world, Social Wellbeing Students might be up for such a challenge. Social Wellbeing students would be having preference over other students when applying to the Projects directed to them (booklet attached below), although they still may apply to the other projects.
A booklet with information about Social Wellbeing Projects will be sent in a separate e-mail to you all in the coming days. I would like to take this opportunity to thank AISEC University of Malta, and second year B.Psy student Lindsay Azzopardi (Marketing Manager in AISEC UoM) for informing Betapsi about these international opportunities, which benefit all Psychology students. For more information, visit AISEC UoM’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AIESEC.UniversityOfMalta
KONNEKT Internships
KONNEKT, which is one of the leading recruitment agencies in Malta, is
looking for two two individuals who would be interested to work on an
Internship as HR in the agency.
KONNEKT is also inviting 2nd year students who are doing their dissertation in the HR/Work Psychology field, to look up data which they have available, and which would eventually be useful for dissertations. Further information about this will be given in the coming days.
For more
information, please contact la...@konnekt.com.
