how about Laura DiVirgilio?  Jim Rolin? also both Joan Riley and Lisa Holabird died very young. Did you list that trio of girls--Kelly Stewart, Devon, and Susan?  Do you remember the tall thin girl with the tall thin Irish wolfhound-- she may be on the list since I can't remember her name.  Also Vicky Kretchmar who was my roommate once.

     this tracking down is more fun than the actual reunion.  Great exercise for aging brains.

I want to add Andy Walkover to the deceased...he didn't live at Beta
Chi, but he dated my roommate Lisa, also Kelly, and also my freshman
roommate Barb Cox (possibly all concurrently!) (later married Barb).
But Andy had a heart as big as the sky and a brilliant mind. He died
way too soon at the age of 38 of melanoma.

Thanks Mary! Andy was indeed a guiding light for many of us....he was a
kind, and brilliant advocate of the psychedelics and introduced me to acid.

If we are allowed some others, certainly Don Lee who showed up with the Soul
Brothers to help talk to the cops one LSD-laced punch bowl evening should be
there. How about Sam, the cook??? (see shower scene)

Thx, thx, to all. I hadn't given much thought as to how I got to Beta Chi,
but others are showing the great depth and importance of Beta Chi.

Does anyone remember the photo spread in Playboy, around 1972, the co-ed
shower scene????

Hi Marty...
I remember it ALL in vivid detail!! And yes, Beta Chi was seminal, a
love story for me. I don't think I have ever, in the rest of my life,
been surrounded by so many brilliant creative souls in one place. I
remember Marly Swick floating down the stairs at Beta Chi, wearing a
white Mexican peasant dress that ended about a foot or so above her
knees, her dark hair cascading down to the hem of the dress and a
mysterious blue light around her ankles. I thought she was the most
interesting person I had ever seen. It was love at first sight! We
started a conversation that has lasted 43 years!!

Jim: Rodger Warnecke left Stanford during his sophomore year because of mental health issues, after which he was in and out of various institutions, and now lives on his family property on the Russian River-- he's doing ok but wouldn't be in shape for a reunion.

photospread taken at BetaChi. Besides the infamous shower scene (which
immortalized my can of Colgate shave cream next to the sink), it had a shot
of people lounging on the roof unclothed. I'll try to dig up the magazine

Btw, i recall sitting on that same roof watching the big fire that gutted
Encina Hall in 72.

Marty: Looked through my old Playboys--found  Sept. '72 issue, "A Look at Campus Nudity", pics at p. 102--it included a nude sun bathing scene on the roof of what appears to be Beta Chi ("roof of frat house at Stanford"), as well as a "Stanford shower room" scene, but don't know if it's Beta Chi.

I think Laura DeVirgilio lives here in LA.  Her mother has a store on Main Street in Santa Monica.  I will try to track Laura down through the store.
