The basics of the Beta Chi Reunion are now set.

Saturday, October 19, 2013
from 6pm to 11:30pm
in the main dining room of the Stanford Faculty Club

People arrive, get badges and have pictures taken for the follow up photo album for attendees.
Snacks, knick-knacks no host bar till 7:15 or so, followed by
sit down dinner (meat, fish, vegetarian TBD) with wine
then dessert. Round tables  of 8 or 10 I
Certain groups want to sit together. Tables will be organized accordingly. Most tables will be self selected

I'd like to have a couple of polished speakers or presenters who can give 15 to 20 minute talks about
1. the Sigma Nu / Beta Chi split,
2. Possibly a couple more entertainments interspersed throughout the evening. There are some very good professional artists who might feel like performing. I've contacted Buddy Guy's manager informing him of the reunion.
3 The bulk of the evening is open for catching up with each other.
.
I am  also working on  assisting those non  local alums  with  finding places to stay. A number of locals are willing to house  guests for a night or two.
If there is enough interest  I'll look into trying to get group rates at a local  hotel deal
if there are enough people interested I can look into a rental car deal. Though most will have deals already with their credit cards or memberships.
Volunteers will take photos throughout the evening and an album will be put together and distributed to attendees
There are several other booklets to be distributed to attendees: A collection of remembrances about the Beta Chi experience and a compendium of resumes relating to  what people have done over the years after Stanford and Beta Chis

There will be additional surprises  for those who come
Door prises
I will give a genuine Filmore  or Avalon poster from my collection to whoever traveled the furthest to attend.
And  finally the answer to one of the most frequent  questions I have been asked over the years.
The attendees will learn what happened to the big red persian rug.
Yes I get that asked probably more tan any other question except "will there be a reunion?

The cost estimate is about $100 per person.

I need  to get an idea of how many people will attend.
Send me jamescraw...@gmail.com an  email with one of the following responses:

YES I definitely will attend

MAYBE I'll attend if  .....

NO  I definitely won't make it

Thanks,
Do it as soon as you can

James Holmes

Jim,

Does one have to be signed up for the larger reunion/homecoming event to be part of this?

Hi Scott,
You don't have to be signed up for the actual reunion in order to keep receiving info about the affair. If that's what you mean by being a part of this.
After all you might change your mind.

You do not have to be signed up to the larger reunion to be part of
the Beta Chi reunion as far as I know. This is a completely separate
event that we just put on reunion weekend for the convince of those
who also have their reunion years and those who want to attend the
reunion festivities on an off cycle year.

Jim &Allen,

Thanks for clarifying.  I thought it might be tied to the larger reunion activities happening that same weekend.  Scott

Even the official living group reunions that are listed as part of the
larger reunion can be attended without registering for the larger
reunion. I have friends who only attend their dorm reunions and skip
the main events.

That said, you do have the option of registering for and attending the
main reunion even if it is not your reunion year. Obviously they do
not have a class party for off years but there are lots of other
activities that are open to all classes.

I'll be there, Jim.  I won't need any housing - and thanks for holding it on my late mom's birthday.  Cheers, JB

Sorry to say I won't be able to join the fun. Amazingly, I already have plans to be in MA that weekend to visit my grandchildren. Yikes! Will there be any kind of documentation of the reunion for those of us who cannot attend?

Cheers,
Rebecca Daniels
