Hi. My name is Jodie and I'm actually the group
moderator. I subscribed under this address to participate in the group because
the gmail address is meant to be my professional address. But if you have
anything group related that you want to email me about you can use either
address.
The rest of the message may contain spoilers for
the books, so if you're not caught up you might not want to read
further.
I got into pod casts in a big way over last summer
when my boyfriend introduced me to the Stargate Cafe at Planet Retcon Radio.
Since then, I've been listening to several pod casts, plus all the audio books I
have but haven't read yet. I subscribed to 7th Son in October, but didn't start
listening until a few weeks ago. I couldn't put it down! It took me four days to
catch up, then two episodes later book two was finished. I was really sad to
find out book three wouldn't be released until July, but of course Jc's entitled
to a vacation. I'm counting the weeks until July 7th! I won't count the days
because that will make the wait way too long.
My favorite character is Kilroy2.0, of course. He
seems to be a favorite of a lot of fans, which is refreshing because I usually
like a lot of characters other people hate. Jarjar Binks from Phantom Menace and
Attack of the Clones is a perfect example. Everyone I talked to wanted him to
die.
I had my doubts about Kilroy at first. I thought he
was crazy in a dangerous way at first, then I thought he'd betray the other
clones, not because he was evil, but because in his mind he would believe they
were a threat. He grew on me fast though; once he got help from his cyber flock
to get the information he and the clones needed, that's when his character
solidified for me. That's the best way I can describe it. He didn't demand it,
he didn't try to scare his flock. He gave them two chances to back out; first by
telling the ones who didn't want to participate to log off and then by asking
the ones who stayed if they complied. He treated them with respect and asked for
their help. He wasn't a lunatic anymore, and he wasn't a potential traitor. As
his true personality showed itself, I liked him more and more. I really felt for
him when Alpha spiked him. I know exactly what it's like to have your entire
life on a computer, and with me it's just addresses, documents, phone numbers,
etc. Kilroy's life's work was on there and Alpha almost destroyed him. As bad as
I felt for him when Special K betrayed him, it didn't really surprise me. He
considers himself a messiah, so of course there had to be a Judice.
I feel that Kilroy and I are kindred spirits. He's
just got this appeal for me that I can't quite explain in words. Part of it is
that I think he's very misunderstood; that's just the vibe I get, and that's one
of the character traits that always appeals to me in books. Also, his sense of
humor is similar to mine. I understand what he means, even when the clones
don't. My favorite Kilroy quote is, "I, the hacker, hacked the hacker who was
hacking me." It just struck me as very eloquent.
I haven't read anything as captivating as 7th Son
since 1995 when I read The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. I can't
wait for book three!
I'm actually listening to all the pod casts again
because I rushed through everything to catch up a few weeks ago and I skipped
all the promos and Jc's intros and outros in the interest of trying to catch up
to the story. One thing he and I have in common, Star Trek the Next Generation
is one of my vices too.
Did you hear what Jc did to Scott Sigler with the
triangles? "Yes! Yes! Feed us! We are very hungry!" Because Sigler made fun of
Jc's manhood. The rivalry between those two is very funny and
entertaining.
Everything I write, whether it's an email, fanfic
or forum post, ends up being much longer than I intend, so I'm going to shut up
now. As of now, I'm the only member and part of my reason for posting this is to
see if it goes through, but if you're reading this message in the archives,
please reply? I'd like to know when new members come, and there doesn't seem to
be a feature that notifies you if your group gets a member. Please post an intro
if you're reading the archives and have joined the group and I'll talk to you
later. Bye for now.
