My name is Yeva Nazaryan and I am a parent at RD White. Couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Wendy Hunter and Kara Sergile and we struck up a conversation about healthy food choices for our kids. Wendy let me know about the joint forces between Franklin and Edison to make some changes. She also informed me that the GUSD is about to change their Director of Food Services. I would like to try and mobilize a similar group at RD White, as I am sure there are many parents at our school who feel the same way. I do not know how much time I have to make an impact on the district'd decision, but I sure would like to try. Do you have any pointers you can give me to get started? Hey Guys So I just got this note from a group of like-minded parents at Edison ES. Look at their list! It's almost, if not exactly, the same as ours!!!! They would like to move forward on influencing the district to replace our friend, Agnes with someone with some progressive ideas. See her note below about us co-signing the letter to HR, joining the google group, and meeting with the school board on this issue. I would like to hear your feedback about all of these items.

Apologies for late reply. We are looking forward to working with Franklin to improve GUSD’s food service. Below is a draft letter we are working on to send to the HR department in regards to Agnes’ replacement. It’s a good wrap up of where we are coming from at Edison, which seems very similar to the Franklin position. Let us know if you would like to be added the sending group of this letter. Also, has there been any coordination around School Board meeting attendance yet? This is extremely important to us, as well as parents at other GUSD schools we have spoken to. I'm happy to say we are very much aligned in our goals. And, Agnes Lally is retiring this year so we feel like this is a perfect opportunity to provide feedback to the district about her replacement. (Since they love parent feedback so much!) We are interested in getting other schools involved as well. Wondering if you two could reach out to your contacts at other schools through PTA or personally and see if there are other wellness or food groups with whom we can work? Do either of you have contacts at Mountain Ave by any chance? I think they were the school that got the Farm to School pilot this fall.
