For comparison, Los Feliz Arts Charter Elementary uses Revolution Foods http://www.revfoods.com/
which claims to be organic.  Lunch costs $4 and they have a free and reduced program.

Another idea that they do there: trade table.  Kids can put food they do not want to eat on the trade table, and take food too.  That would include school food and food from home.

I am definitely going to check out Revolution Foods. There are a few others that have been recommended as well. I am not sure about the trade table - the one problem I foresee, especially with the food from home being incorporated, is that the parents might have a tougher time getting an idea what their kids are eating and what they are not. Plus there is the food allergy issue in sharing food. Regarding the milk issue, the doing away with the strawberry and chocolate milk choices was one of the first things I talked to Agnes about - I believe it was a couple months ago she assured me that the strawberry milk was not being served and that the chocolate milk was served only occasionally. I will check into this next week. Thanks again for the message.

p.s. Just a reminder - because of the audit that the Food Services of Glendale Unified is about to go through as well as a change of leadership in that dept. it will likely take a bit longer to make changes, but we are forging ahead. Many thanks for all concerned parents who are onboard for healthier meals served at our school.

Just wanted to chime in here.  I've seen Chocolate milk as an option every Thursday that I am there.  Unless it is the case that they only serve it on Thursdays :), it is still available.

Thank you.
