"Had the best experience doing a photoshoot this past fall! Jess made sure to get all the photos I really wanted and then some, even a great photo with two horses and two (wild) dogs who don't make it easy. She is amazing to work with and always so nice. The photos turned out awesome and I'm so grateful to have them!"
"The best word to describe my photo experience would be extraordinary. From our first contact to the portrait session to the delivery of my wall art and photo albums - extraordinary. The portrait of me and my horse, Misty, is the final Christmas gift from my deceased husband. A lot of pressure on Jess, but she handled it all with sensitivity and professionalism, and we had lots of fun doing it. My wall art and albums are stunning. There is no other way to describe them. If you are thinking of having a portrait done of you and your special horse, Jess is the person to do it for you. She is simply extraordinary."
I will be bringing my son, daughter and a few friends to Soaring Eagle casino next weekend to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday and wondered if they prohibit taking pictures in the casino? I saw a mention in a different casino ( dont recall which one) that specifically prohibited cameras but dont see anything on the topic at Soaring Eagle. Does anyone know? ( dont want to embarass my kids by being 'caught' by security if it is not allowed!) but would love to have some pictures of the evening.
I think all casinos have that rule, but it is not going to be enforced - unless you start taking tons of pictures of the cage, high rollers at the blackjack table, etc. Taking a quick snapshot will be fine. Just don't let kids under 21 loiter in the gaming area - that will get the attention of security very quickly.
Just from our own personal experience, we have taken some photo's with our cell phones. About 4 months ago our 20 year old hit a $1000 jackpot at Turtle Creek on a penny machine. We were close by and were really whooping it up. He had to be hand paid by an attendent. With more than 3 staff people around us, no one said anything about us taking photos. They even offered to go get the digital and take a photo, which they did. Within 5 minutes or so we picked it up at the coat check. It came in a nice decorative sleeve, about a 5X7 size. I think as long as you do it quietly and in private, no one will say anything.
I don't think it will be a problem if you're not taking photos at the live tables (craps, black jack, etc...). We've snapped photoes there with no problems but we did it at the entrance area before we entered the actual gaming floor.
I did get a response to my email to Soaring Eagle and they told me while they do not allow cameras on the floor of the casino, they are ok in the public areas- so regardless I think I can get some shots of the my daughter and her friends. I can see why they do not want shots at the tables- not sure why they would not allow cameras in the slot machine areas but I can live with it. ( and I doubt they would notice if I were discreet anyhow! )
I tried taking a few candid pictures by the slot machines at the casino in Petoskey, not knowing that we weren't allowed... within seconds a security person came up and told me that my camera would have to either get checked in or taken back to our vehicle.

I'm old enough to remember a ban on photography in casinos. Now, everyone has their photo-capable cell phones out wherever they go, taking selfies by slot machines. When did the house rules change from "no photos" to photos allowed, and are there still any photo bans?
Historically, almost all casinos prohibited the taking of photographs and signs at entrances were posted to that effect. It had to do with privacy and the protection of players, especially when gambling was a vice everywhere except Nevada and the mob, notoriously camera-shy, was running the town. It also was a means of preventing casing the casino for a potential robbery and possible cheating -- photographing security, the cage, money movements, and the like.
Thus, up until fairly recently, casinos were extremely sensitive about photography, especially video, anywhere on their property. Las Vegas is a place people escape to, sometimes when they're actually meant to be somewhere else, with someone else, and the casinos didn't want to risk being sued by someone who lost his or her marriage or job over an inadvertent exposure.
These days, there seem to be as many different policies on photos in the casino as there are casino operators. Caesars Palace, for example, has always been notoriously averse to the practice, whereas the Four Queens has allowed photos for years (though no video). The Boyd casinos (Sam's Town, Fremont, California, Gold Coast, etc.) allow photos in the casino, but only selfies (you and/or your family).
Bottom line: You can bring your cell phone or camera, but use it with discretion. In general, it's fine to take a photograph of your buddies drinking at the bar, or eating at the buffet, or posing with an attraction, but it might not be okay to start snapping them playing blackjack, or hitting a slot jackpot, or hanging out in the race and sports book.

One of the five unions reported via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday morning that the Detroit Casino Council (DCC) had reached a tentative agreement with the owners of Detroit's casino hotels, the MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino Hotel, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
The other unions involved are the United Auto Workers, Teamsters Local 1038, Operating Engineers Local 324, and the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters. If the deal is approved, it would end a strike that has lasted 32 days and was the only casino strike in Detroit's history.
I always tell people that for me to be a happy photographer I need to have a variety of things to shoot. Casino photography / gaming photography / resort photography is one of the types of shooting that fills a special shooting need for me. I get to work with great models, inject maximum excitement and work my lighting magic, but it can also be a tremendous challenge working on an active casino floor. Everyone on this shoot from the electrician that helped us find power on the gaming floor to the marketing department to the food and beverage manager / staff made the shoot a success and I owe them a huge big thanks.
There is no denying that casino tourism is also immensely popular, and more and more people set their feet on destinations such as Las Vegas, Macau, and Monaco, among others. Naturally, casinos stand out as a rich vista, which does not leave people indifferent, and perhaps, wanting to take a few pictures. Even if this might seem like a good idea, you should be aware that this might always be possible.
No matter if you a gambler who wants to place a few bets or you are simply eager to go and see what brick-and-mortar casinos are like, it would be best to know that you will not be permitted to take photos in the gambling areas of the casino. Regardless of the destination you have chosen or the casino you are about to visit, it would be best to know that the bulk of the casinos take a dim view of such photos, and the explanation of this is pretty simple. They just want to guarantee the privacy of their customers as most of them might be camera-shy or they simply do not want to be seen while gambling.
Another reason why almost any land-based casino has strict policies against taking photos in the gambling area or the casino cage is that they want to ensure the privacy and security of their employees as well.
Something interesting to keep in mind is that there are also land-based casinos where the measures are even stricter. In some casinos, you will not only be prohibited from taking photos, but you will not be allowed to take any of your gadgets with you, including your tablet or smartphone. Despite the fact that you might be ill at ease with such a situation, you should know that the casino staff simply wants to make sure that you will comply with the policy of the casino.
The countless entertainment options that are usually to be found in these places continue to lure players and tourists alike. Something you might have not pondered over is that casinos do not allow their visitors to take photos so as not to reveal some of their rules. This makes sense because it will be much more beneficial for casinos if you go there and become their customer instead of knowing so much about the gambling establishment in advance.
