Leki Nordic Walking poles

These Nordic Walking poles, made by Leki, are GREAT! The poles are well-made, very light weight and well-balanced. The Nordic glove is very comfortable. The gloves are also very easy to release from the pole with Leki's quick release system. Nordic walking is a relatively new sport in the United States, but one can see people all over in Europe and the "Northern Countries" out Nordic walking. It is a great sport; my family and I have taken it up and we all love it!

MADE IN CHINA?!

First, let me preface this by saying these Nordic poles are a 4-star product. They are slim, light weight, and do what they are supposed to do. I am giving a two-star rating based on my concern that the poles I received may be of questionable authenticity. The Amazon description states these poles are supplied by Leki and sold by Amazon. I took that to mean these Leki Instructor poles would be the same or almost the same product as can be found at the Leki website.
Note: The image of the Leki Instructor poles shown here at Amazon is the same as the poles I received. However, the poles here at Amazon are quite different from the Instructor poles that can be found at the Leki website.
Comparing what I purchased to what is shown/described by the Leki website;
* First and most noticeably different: Leki says their products "are manufactured in our own production facilities in the Czech Republic in accordance with state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly methods". The poles I received are clearly marked with a "MADE IN CHINA" sticker right below the handles (see image above). I'm immediately left to wonder if these are a genuine high-quality aluminum/carbon Leki product or if I ended up with something that doesn't come from Leki at all, although it is labeled as a Leki product.
* Second: the hand grips do not appear to be cork. It's sort of a cushy foam-like grip cover, and the trigger release for the straps is a very different design than the Leki Instructor poles that are shown on the Leki website (see image above).
* Third: the description states there's an instructional dvd included. I did not receive said dvd.
With all the differences between these Instructor poles from Amazon vs. the Instructor poles at the Leki website, I'm left to wonder if I what I received is either an out-of-date model or a knock off. I can live with knowing I purchased an older design. It's the MADE IN CHINA sticker for on a product I thought would be made in Czech Republic that concerns me the most and causes me to question the product's authenticity.
At the time I purchased these poles I also purchased a generic pair of poles for others to use. They were eighty dollars cheaper than these Leki poles yet are *almost* the exact same thing. The wrist strap on the generic poles are even more comfy than these pricier Leki poles.
Bottom Line: If you are purchasing your first Nordic poles I recommend you start with something less expensive. If you want authentic "made in Czech Republic" Leki's then play it safe by purchasing direct from manufacturer. Although these poles do what they are supposed to do, I can see no reason why anyone should spend this kind of money for a MADE IN CHINA product when the same type of product can be purchased for substantially less and perform just as well.

Light weight. Adjustable height is effective. Tips are large enough to absorb some impact, but you'll feel the cement after 2-3 miles. Handles fit, but the grip is not perfect. Keeping the tips exactly straight ahead requires adjustment from time to time. The sticks really do help your workout, increasing your stride, pace and heart rate. The upper body workout is effective.
