Meet Your Captain – Diver Dan
Kaanapali Ocean Adventures is proudly led by Diver Dan (Dan Shaffer), a Maui ocean professional with over 45 years of experience. Dan began his career as a scuba diving instructor for local resorts and has since spent decades navigating, fishing, and diving the waters surrounding Maui and Lanai.
Widely respected within the local community, Diver Dan is known for his expert navigation, strong safety record, and deep understanding of ocean conditions. His lifelong familiarity with Lanai’s coastline is what allows both of our vessels to travel to this remarkable island on select tours and private charters, offering guests an experience few operators can match.

Our Vessels and Beachfront Departure
We operate two specialized vessels designed for different types of ocean adventures. The Sanity, our custom-built 50-foot snorkel boat, features a private restroom, freshwater shower, swim platform, shaded seating, and ample deck space. It is the only snorkel vessel departing from Kaanapali Beach that goes to and around the island of Lanai, making it the centerpiece of our snorkeling and private charter offerings.
Our jet boat, X-Treme, is built for speed and agility and is ideal for sightseeing, West Maui snorkeling, and intimate private charters. Both boats depart directly from Kaanapali Beach at Whaler’s Village, offering unmatched convenience for guests staying in Kaanapali or Lahaina.
