If you want to know what the best Fortnite skins are, we've got them. Now with Season 8 skins!

As a free-to-play game, Fortnite Battle Royale's main draw for making money comes in one shade: microtransactions. "Battle Passes." "V-Bucks." Other little things. These are terms familiar to the most avid players of Fortnite Battle Royale; the former nets you new skins and other cosmetic goodies the more you play per a paid season pass, while the other is the in-game currency where you can buy Fortnite skins or gliders with pointed ease, and accelerate tier-growth towards rarer items in a Battle Pass.

Skins, a.k.a. costumes, are a highly desired item in any multiplayer game. In Overwatch, they're nabbed randomly in loot boxes with special edition skins hitting during events. In MOBAs, skins dress up the teensy pixels on the screen that you hardly even get too good of a look at. In Fortnite, skins are a mark of wealth in the free-to-play world. They show off to other players on the battlefield that hey, I have the money to spend on this game, and in some cases, the time to grind to get to the more coveted skins from the Battle Passes too. Everyone else looks notably lesser in comparison.

Best Fortnite Skins

And so, we decided to rank the 35 best Fortnite skins out of the game's current dozens available. Some are still attainable on a rotating basis (the store refreshes daily) and are purchasable via V-Bucks, which can either be earned (albeit slowly) in-game or bought with real world money. Fortnite Battle Royale also offers a Battle Pass per season, which costs 950 V-Bucks ($9.50) for the intro tier, or 2,800 V-Bucks through its Premium version that starts off at tier 25. If you're too eager to grind for experience, you can also level up faster with V-Bucks by buying EXP up to the next tier.

Other Fortnite skins, sadly, have been whisked away by time and the promise of holiday-bound exclusivity—though some have made surprise, fleeting returns to the daily shop. It's a shame too, since some of the very best skins in Fortnite end up being the rarest ones. (Funny how that works, right?

According to our readers, it looks like Midas is the best skin in Fortnite right now. You do get some fluctuation on the list, with Elite Agent, Drift, Lynx, and Catalyst all jockeying for the top position, but it looks like the man with the golden touch is occupying the spot at the moment.

Here's a look at the best outfits of all-time across battle passes and item shops throughout the entirety of Fortnite's history. While there's some newcomers to the list, you'll notice that skins like Drift, Calamity and John Wick,  and some others have maintained high spots on the list for a very long time.

However, the new Battle Pass Skins from Chapter 2 Season 6 have all been taking the top spots!

Fortnite was no stranger to crossover characters prior to Chapter 2, but Epic really kicked things up a gear with the introduction of the bounty hunters in Season 5. The Mandalorian plus Grogu, Predator, and even Ellen Ripley from Alien have all made their debut in the battle royale game. Season 6 took things a step further, throwing Neymar and Lara Croft into the fray.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of characters Epic adds to Fortnite – if you’ve taken a break from the game and want to know who has been added this season, we’ve got you covered. Season 5 introduced seven new series to Fortnite every few weeks, so expect to see some new crossovers very soon.
