Dear Friend,
The
anti-clean air hysteria that has gripped the Tea Party-controlled U.S.
House has now seeped jinto the Senate.
Senator Rand Paul from
Kentucky is trying to ram through an obscure rule to gut the Clean Air Act and
stop the EPA from doing its job. Paul's legislation, flying under
the radar, would handcuff the EPA from protecting our health and lead to up to
34,000 premature deaths a year.1
This dangerous Dirty
Air Act could pass – and it's up for vote sometime this week!
Contact your Senators
now. Let them know that you support the EPA's efforts to protect our
families!
Senator Paul's radical last-minute legislation would
eliminate the EPA's Cross State Air Pollution Rule and stop the EPA from cleaning up
the air for 240 million Americans.2
This Dirty Air Act is being pushed because of Rand Paul's extreme agenda to end the
EPA. Paul has said that the EPA 'turns everyday life into a federal crime.'3 Dangerous fine particulate pollution crossing state borders shouldn't
be an everyday life activity. Even utilities
such as New Jersey-based Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G)
have spoken out in favor of the Cross State Air Pollution Rule.4
We can't let Senator Paul and his
corporate cronies sacrifice our health for polluter's profits. It's time
to remind our Senators they work for us.
Stop the Dirty Air Act in its tracks.
Thanks for all you do to protect the environment,
Mary Anne Hitt
