I recently remodeled our master bath and added a 5' x 5' tiled 2 headed shower in place of a corner garden tub. Until I had this water heater installed a month ago we were not able to run both heads for more than 5-10 mins without running out of hot water. Happiness Now!! We can run both heads as long as we want and never run out of hot water. We can even run an additional shower upstairs with no loss of hot water. The pressure Drops of course with all 3 heads in the house going but it is still more than enough pressure to shower with. This replaced a lowboy 15 year old 47 Gallon Electric Tanked heater.

We have had no Water pressure Drop after install, as noted by another reviewer. We used 3/4" pex water tubing/pipe for the installation and ran it to the 3/4" hot water main line that runs down the center of the house in the crawl space. When I remodeled the bathroom I ran 3/4" line all the way to the shower valves (High Flow Delta Shower only valves Delta R10000 UNBXHF Multichoice Universal Shower and heads to make sure we had enough volume.

Even with the recent Cold Snap with morning temps in the single digits here in NC we had no hot water temp issues. I insulated the water pipes coming out of the house and to the unit very well so no issues with frozen pipes. The unit has its own freeze protection also. Incoming cold water temp currently is 59 Degrees. I have the unit set on 120 degrees, for a 61 degree rise right now. I know some people will turn the shower valve all the way hot and install the remote control head for the water heater in the main bathroom and set it to say 103-106 degrees for the average shower, so you are only talking a 44-47 degree rise. Based on Rheems specs (8.4 gal./min. at 45°F rise) you can easily run 3- 2.5 Gal/min shower heads and maintain hot water. I believe you could use this unit with well water temps (55-60 degrees) without issues but be sure you have a water softener or you will likely have Calcification issues based on my research.

I ran the electrical for the unit and put a service disconnect very close to the unit just inside the door to the crawl space in addition to the 15 Amp breaker at the panel. DO NOT us a GFCI breaker or outlet to run this unit. That is clearly stated in the installation instructions. I ran a dedicated circuit for the unit. Rheem's information also states max draw of 3 Amps.

I choose this unit over an equivalent Rinnai unit because it was about $300 less with similar performance, efficiency, & warranty.
