Quality pen. I've been buying Retro 51 pens for some time and I like the Tornado line... for the price. This "bamboo" is a great-looking pen. Not sure that using bamboo as a pen barrel really helps the environment, but they do claim to make a small donation per pen to "rescue" 250 sq.ft. of rainforest. So if that's true, it's sort of nice.Anyway, the pen itself. Nice, rich bamboo. Smooth but not overly lacquered barrel. Nice looking antiqued metal... although maybe a little too subtle on the antique part. But not bright like chrome and a little deeper in color than stainless. The writing is smooth but not generous. Writes more like a ball point than a roller ball.
Only a couple of minor negative points.... pen is a little top heavy. The weight above the hand tends to swing the pen a bit more than I would normally like. Not a big deal though. The other low is something that may just be a matter of a pen in the price range. When writing with the pen, the refill clicks against the barrel tip... so each time the roller ball point pushes against the paper, the refill makes a very slight "chk" as it hits the tip. Seems like the tip of the pen is just minutely oversized. Again, not a big deal, just something I notice when I write.
Overall, for the price, this - and any Retro 51 - Tornado is well worth it. I'm sure I will buy another one when this one finally gets unnoticeably snagged on an upholstered bench at a restaurant as I get up to be seated and is left behind for some lucky fellow diner to come across as he waits for his table.
