A massive step up from similarly priced speakers
By Walter Mitter
I upgraded to these from my old Creative T20 speakers that were breaking down, and just four songs in, I'm hooked. For my money, it's a huge upgrade over similarly priced Creative speakers and a no-brainer purchase.
Given the price you pay for these, I think the value can't be beaten - you get a USB DAC that's a massive improvement over motherboard sound and speakers that while not audiophile-standard by any means, are more than a step up over traditional speakers.
Pros:
- The USB DAC is a massive improvement over the DAC found in most computer mainboards. Switching in between the USB input and the 3.5mm jack from the motherboard, the sound is much less muddy and details emerge that I hadn't noticed before. Voices are clearer, instruments sound more natural and the bass is more neutral (I hadn't noticed that it was pumped up before!)
- I personally feel that the Bass on this is much better than the Creatives, despite the much-hyped Bass
X-port technology that they have. If you like heavy bass though, this is not a speaker for you (indeed, you'd probably need a subwoofer if you want truly heavy bass - you won't find it in a 2.0 system).
- Nice and compact. I find these fit nicely on my desk without taking up much space. They deliver sound far beyond what you might expect when you look at them. Solidly built too.
Cons:
- One major one. Given the improvement from my old Creatives, and my first experience of a DAC that's outside my computer, I'm now very tempted to pay more and get an even better DAC and better speakers. Ah well. If that ever happens, I think someone's going to be very happy at this hand-me down!

Best value In a high-quality desktop audio system
By audio addict
I've tried a lot of portable and desktop audio products but by far this is one of the best values out there in a quality built high fidelity audio experience under 200.00 dollars on Amazon. These speakers provide clear full range audio from your desktop USB interface or the 3.5 mm analog connection. I also hooked up and external powered subwoofer to the back of the unit and these will give larger powered speakers are run for their money but at a fraction of there price. The speakers have a natural warm sound to them even without an external subwoofer hooked up the bass response was very good, mid range and highs were very crisp and clear. I will be comparing these to the new AudioEngine a2+ speakers to see which one comes all on top.

Underrated Desktop Speakers
By Dcool7
I bought the YU2 for my computer in a small room and they are a perfect fit. Mids and treble are very good while bass is just okay. If I want more bass,I will add a sub woofer but other than that, the bass is good enough for a small room. The fact the YU2 has a built in DAC is a major plus too. Overall,I think the YU2 is a very good alternative to the discontinued Audioengine A2 especially if you can find the YU2 for $100-$150.
