What an enjoyable evening. Though, I imagine, for the average eldergay Miss Jennifer Holiday was "too Black" for 'I'm Still Here' and I think I saw some of their heads explode when Mx. Alexandra Billings -- a, real live, honest-to-goodness T sang "Lucy & Jessie".
Sexy Kinzinger came out this morning not as gay, but as a Republican endorsing Biden for President. He made the announcement just before 8 am EST on CNN. He's part of a growing number of republican 'never Trump' ers who will not vote for Trump.
Carly Simon turns 81 years old today. The "You're So Vain" singer and songwriter had claimed she was born in 1946 for many years, until her birth certificate was discovered with proof she was actually 3 years older than what she was telling the public. So far, Simon has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe and two Grammys in her career. Her last studio album was 2009's "Never Been Gone".
"Why" is the single from the 1982 movie "Soup for One", Simon's attempt at disco. It's a favorite among fans though it didn't do well on the Hot 100 Singles. Niles and Edwards (behind Diana Ross' 1980 megahit album "diana") composed the music and produced the song, while Simon wrote the lyrics. It peaked at #74 in the US, but hit the Top 10 in many other countries.
I am an introvert, but I socialized frequently during my 20s, hitting the bars several times a week and living it up. I slowed down a bit in my 30s. Now, at 40, I would MUCH rather spend an evening alone than go out. I loathe any work events that involve socializing -- dinner, drinks, whatever. Really, the only socializing that I enjoy now is one-on-one meals with friends, or occasionally a dinner with 2-3 others, assuming they are all interesting and good conversationalists.
This is like an Andrea Martin skit from SCTV, only campier. A coked up Lainie performing Copacabana on the Jerry Lewis Telethon in 1980. Her dramatic reading in the middle of the song has to be seen to be believed.
McCarthy, 60, shared a photo of him and Moore together on Instagram while praising his former costar and revealing he's working on a "Brat Pack documentary" about the group of '80s teen actors, which also included Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald and Emilio Estevez.
"So great to see (for the first time in years and years) my St. Elmo's Fire co-star, the wondrous Demi Moore, and catch up for my Brat Pack documentary," McCarthy, 60, wrote alongside the photo of him and Moore which he juxtaposed with a photo from their 1985 film.
"I'll remember it my whole life. I hope that he will, too. It's a thing that's hard to forget," McCarthy told PEOPLE. "I have to give a lot of credit to Sam for being willing to do that with his father."
"The Camino brings you home to yourself. And so if that's what [Sam] said to himself, then so be it. Acting saved my life when I was 15, so who am I to say what?" asks Andrew. "I was flailing around. And teenagers have to find something or else they get lost. It gave me a foothold in my life."
[quote]Appearing at court last week, Harrison Carter, 27, of Chesterton Road, Cambridge, was jailed for three years for his part in using Grindr and WhatsApp to plan to a spree of robberies between 27 May and 16 June 2022. He admitted a charge of conspiring to commit robbery, at an earlier hearing.
45 years ago this weekend, Barbra Streisand topped off the decade of being the #1 box office actress of the 1970s with the release of the comedy "The Main Event". It opened in Los Angeles and Times Square to sold out box-offices before opening in wide release a few days later. The movie paired her with Ryan O'Neal, whom she starred with in the 1972 block-buster 'What's Up Doc ?'
The movie first started out as a MGM project for Diana Ross and Ryan O'Neal (who were a couple at the time) in late 1977, once Ross turned down the script for 'The Bodyguard' (O'Neal said she didn't want to do a topless scene, while Ross said she didn't want to play a celebrity stalked by a deranged fan). The film's original title was "Tough Customers", and the storyline was similar to what turned out to be "The Main Event". Before the film went into production Ross and O'Neal had a bad break-up, and Ross was dropped from the film (actress Goldie Hawn was considered briefly, but then dropped). It was Sue Mengers, who was the manager of Streisand, O'Neal, and at the time Ross, who thought the film would be a great romantic comedy for Streisand and O'Neal, who hit it big in 1972. The project moved from MGM to First Artists, and had gone through a series of titles including 'The Knockout' and 'The Woman and the Boxer'. It began filming in October, 1978. The film was produced by Streisand and her then-paramour Jon Peters.
Upon release, the movie received mostly negative reviews from critics, but audiences couldn't wait to see the film. It ended up taking in $43M against a budget of $8M, becoming the 16th most successful film of the year.
Streisand also recorded the theme song "The Main Event / Fight" for the movie, her first time recording a disco song. The single peaked at #3. (Streisand also recorded a ballad version of 'The Main Event' which she originally wanted released as the single - it only appears on the OMPS). The soundtrack itself peaked at #20. The theme song was nominated for a Golden Globe.
On going into Cafeteria with friends tonight, I noticed Fran Lebowitz glumly standing alone near the entrance. I gave her a chirpy "Hi, Fran!" but she went totally stone faced and didn't respond in the least. Maybe it's because on the night of my recent, fateful Little Island encounter with Candice Bergen, Fran spotted me walking to the island (where she was also going) and seemed to want to say hi, but I shot her down by giving her side eye. I've been giving her hugely mixed messages, I admit.
I admire her a lot and think she's pricelessly hilarious--and she gave me a great interview in the '80s--but I've very vocally had a problem with her hiding her sexuality for so long and also for calling outing "McCarthyism", so I never know how to react when I spot the woman. I'm also never sure if her occasional glimmer of a half-smile might quickly turn into the mouth of a fire spitting dragon.
But despite the judge at the time telling Van de Velde his promising career was a 'shattered dream', the volleyball player is set to return to limelight after sealing his spot at the Paris Games in July.
Before he returned to the Netherlands Van de Velde advised her to get the morning after pill as they had not used contraception. It was her visit to a family planning clinic that alerted the authorities, who stepped in because of the girl's young age.
The sportsman, of Westeinde 46, Voorburg, the Netherlands, was extradited to the UK on January 8, when he was arrested on suspicion of the sex acts. He later admitted three counts of rape against a child.
1. The Debate: The campaign is hoping to construct an aura of unfairness or "riggeddness" by having surrogates trash the moderators and CNN in advance of the debate. The goal is to dirty up the venue and the moderators so that the Orange Pustule will be able to stop haemorrhaging independent voters. He's dropped with independents significantly since the criminal convictions and he absolutely needs them to win the battleground states. The campaign wants the Orange fuck to skip the debate altogether because they know he will sundown, sunup and sputter like virus infected laptop.
2. There is a very real fear that Jack Smith will indict DJT again in NJ on a related but even more daming stolent document charge. The surrogates who have been advising and guiding Aileen Canon in FLA are divided over strategy and apparently, Canon believes she will be a Supreme Court Justice if she insulates the indicted one from a pre-election trial. Some in the campaign want her to dismiss the charges and others want her to continue to slow walk. The internal discord is creating an opportunity for Smith and he knows it. they have NO plan to address this beyond the usual deny, attack routine.
3. Candidate dosage: Ronny Jackson-Johnson (as many jokingly refer to him now) is as crazy AND as high on god knows what as his most famous patient. The condern in the campaign is what exactly he has given Orangalinni and in what combination. The campaign has been telling surrogates to tell reporters Dump is preparing for the debate by meeting with advisors.. LOL... He's not preparing at al.
Now we know one of them googled "how long to die in the snow" at 2:30 in the morning from inside the house. The FBI will testify that the car didn't kill John O'Keefe. The investigation is now under investigation. So many lies, so many secrets. Somebody in the house flipped.
Those arrested included five active members of the club's Bakersfield chapter, as well as two others who are members of Sons of Hell, a motorcycle club that answers to the Bakersfield Hells Angels chapter, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Law enforcement officers seized 25 firearms, an unspecified number of rounds of ammunition and gang regalia, according to the statement, jointly released with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Allegations leading to the arrests include kidnapping, robbery, making criminal threats, false imprisonment, assault with a firearm, participation in a criminal street gang, criminal conspiracy, intimidating a witness or victim and elder abuse, law enforcement said in the statement.
[quote]The breakthrough came from copying tissue structures in people. The prototype may appear more Haribo than human-like, but the researchers say it paves the way to making convincingly realistic, moving humanoids with self-healing skin that will not easily rip or tear.
[quote]The artificial skin is made in the lab, using living cells. Not only is it soft, like real skin but it can repair itself if cut. It will take many more years of testing for the technology to become an everyday reality, but the work may also be useful in research into skin ageing, cosmetics and surgical procedures, including plastic surgery.
