We'll do our part in this campaign. If you're doing it as individual cities, then email for Perth is bersihO...@gmail.com

For Adelaide, you may want to try Allan Ooi at renegade...@hotmail.com. He helped organise the two previous rallies in Adelaide but seems to be left out of all network correspondences.

Comrades in Australia,

The global recruitment drive for volunteers has been approved by KL.

I will shortly be distributing the Sydney recruitment poster to the Sydney network. And we are prepared to produce posters for you all. On this count, who can I write to for Hobart, Adelaide & Darwin? Does anyone know?

As discussed, individual countries or cities will have their own posters, and we have sent individual posters to the USA, Paris and UK.

It looks to me as if we should do this city-by-city in Australia.

So, assuming you guys want to help with this drive, you need to:

# set up a dedicated email address for your city and send the username to Kevin Bathman in Sydney (cc-ed), who will prepare posters for you
# organise responsible administrators who will manage and respond to all who are volunteering, and answer their enquiries
# you compile details of volunteers until the time we begin sending volunteer details to KL

It's only a suggestion, but it might be a good idea to ask of anyone who may volunteer that they tell us if they will be remaining in Australia (in what city), or if they are returning (what constituency in Malaysia). That way, we can divide the list into volunteers for Australia and volunteers for Malaysia.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Peace, goodwill & Merdeka.

JC,
Long story cut short, included extract of a PACAPOS / Global Bersih communication below for gist of it. Collecting global database of volunteer observers in Malaysia and in Embassy/High Commission/Consulate offices, and for us particularly for Perth.

Poster attached for distribution.

Dear Ambiga and Maria,

The group cc-ed this email has finalised the nuts and bolts of a Global Bersih (GB) campaign to recruit volunteers to act as election observers, in all their various forms. We have discussed this for a while now, and have decided to put the cart before the horse - aside from what Tindak etc are doing, the call for volunteers should actually come from political parties. We hope this campaign will work to 'force the issue'.

The recruitment campaign will live on the internet and eventually use social media like Facebook. Volunteers will be recruited in all countries, to help in polling stations at home as well as overseas. Ultimately, the volunteers will be made available to all stakeholders, including Bersih, Tindak etc. and political parties.

We together seek your approval to launch this, with France and UK as starting points.

THE CAMPAIGN
Attached are digital recruitment posters for France and the UK. As the campaign grows, posters will be produced for more countries in the GB network. Each country will set up a dedicated email address (as in attached posters) to which people can write in and volunteer. These dedicated email addresses will be administered by GB members, who will take enquiries in their own countries and compile their list of volunteers.

In the long-term, this global network of dedicated email addresses will be the points of communication through which all information on Bersih activity and related campaigns, issues will be passed on. Its administrators will be responsible and take care to pass on take responsibility.

PUBLICITY
A Bersih press statement in KL to launch the global recruitment drive and push for urgent engagement by the EC on the postal voting process. We should be able to show you a final draft by the end of this week. As the campaign grows, intermittent statements may be issued to identify further issues and keep up the pressure.

I hope this gives you a clear picture of what we are hoping to do, with your approval.

Peace, goodwill & Merdeka,

+WilliamdC
