Repeating post in fb Yellow family page due to different subscribers.

1) Maria have asked us to consider fund raising for Bersih 2.0. Can we / are we going to do it as a group or individual?

2) Have been probing Tony Pua (DAP) for a while now to make a tour of Perth and he has finally committed to come this year....tentatively September 10 & 11. Early program includes a lunch seminar at Murdoch and a fund raising dinner for Impian Sarawak / Sabah.

3) Anyone planning to attend memorial for MH17 being planned by WA government?

Can we meet up this weekend for teh tarik and discuss. Was talking to Chom, Raymond and Cikgu about this.
It has been awhile since we got together and we now  have cause to convene- What about D"Nyonya in Vic Park?
Suggest suitable times. We need to take stock of how much money we have and what we think we can do.

Soon- where did you hear about the memorial for MH17? AMWA is also planning to have one.

How about meeting up, as a first step?

Barnett will announce memorial once the national day of mourning has been declared for MH17. In the meantime, condolence will be available for signing until Aug 15.

We need a financial update first before we can plan on what to do. Will need to inform Greg. What about Rahman & Co?

Attached were the documents issued by Bersih 2.0. One describes the request for funding. We'll meet at D'Nyonya on Saturday July 26, at 1pm to discuss this further.

BTW, Bersih have finally gave in and announced that they (Bersih/DART/Engage) are joining forces with Tindak Malaysia for the delimitation review. 

Also, Tony Pua has locked down on Wednesday September 10 for a lunch seminar (12-2pm) at Murdoch and Impian fundraising dinner on the same evening. He has a slot for a casual tea meet up with Malaysians if there's request.

As D' Nyonya is not open at 4 pm on Sunday and there are not many places open at 4pm on Sunday may I suggest Balmoral Vic Park, Makan2 Vic Park or Taurus, Collins Road, Willetton.

Believe only Jordan, Raymond, Tony, Cikgu and myself likely to show up. Since 80% is within shouting range, can we meet up in Willo instead? I have to leave early, so can I suggest 3.30pm start? Meet at Taurus Collins Road or Ah Mei Cafe Canning Vale Market City?

Also, with Kien's report on fund, can I suggest that BMP contribute $1000 to Bersih 2.0 fund raiser ahead of further discussions at the meet so that others who may not turn up can voice their opinion too? Others who may want to contribute further personally, can you advise Kien so that arrangement can be made to transfer the funds together in one go to save on cost?

If Cikgu is coming, it might be easier for him if it is in Willetton. He takes the circle route bus. If its in Canning Vale he might have to change buses.

    If it's in Ah Mei Cafe in Canning Vale I will have to transfer to another bus but can reach almost straight. But if it's in Taurus I need to get off and walk for 2km. Maybe some other place in Willeton is better else Ah Mei Cafe is actually slightly more convenience.

Regarding the $1,000 donation to Bersih 2.0, I'm ok with it. But I think we need to have a clearer picture which direction Bersih 2.0 is moving to. 

The idea of moving all the donation in one lump sum is a good idea. It is cheaper. Let me know how you guys want to do it. 

Do we also want to donate some money to Light Up Borneo? 

Sorry that I'm unable to attend as this is the busiest time for me.

Aaron confirmed that his restaurant Old Cathay Restaurant can host Tony Pua's Dinner for 80 people on Wed 24/9/14 at $30 per head. He said that if we can get 100 we can have the whole place.

For the fundraising dinner for Impian Sabah/Sarawak, throwing in another option to the mix. I have also asked Batavia in Victoria Park about catering and they have a 20 meals big platter spread for $13.50 pp. It's like nasi padang / kunyit type meal, with pyramid of rice surrounded by fried chicken, eggs, gado-gado, etc. 2 days advance notice and pick up from their restaurant. Not sure if their restaurant can cater for more than 40 if we're to hold it there.

Anyway, our meeting last Sunday, we have proposed to donate RM2000 (about $700) from money we,re holding to Bersih 2.0 fundraising. If anyone has any objections or comments, can you make it known soon as we should try to forward the sum before their fundraising dinner in KL on August 08?

On Tony Pua visit, he has confirmed he will be available Wednesday September 10, 2014. Greg Lopez will take care of the organisation of the lunch seminar between 12 noon and 2pm at Murdoch Uni, with Public Policy Department. Can someone add Greg to this google group? Greg, can you give details as soon as it is available, for example will it be open to public, particularly students of other institutions, is lunch snack available to participants, seating capacity, etc.

We will also be hosting a dinner (as described above) coinciding with Tony's visit to raising fund for DAP's community work through Impian Sabah / Sarawak, on the same day at 7.00pm so please keep the day free. Besides selling seats to the dinner to raise fund, anyone with ideas how to generate more donate at the dinner would be appreciated.

Tony has also offered to have a casual chat over tea with anyone who wishes to between the seminar and dinner. So open any response.

Sorry Soon I might have noted down the wrong date of 24/9/14 for Tony Pua's fund raising dinner. So the correct date is Wednesday 10/9/14?
 
Do we still want to hold the dinner at Old Cathay for 80 people, selling tickets at $50 for $30 cost per head dinner? Please confirm ASAP so that I can get back to Aaron to confirm and lock down the booking and flyers and tickets can be printed for immediate sales.

1. Batavia probably not an ideal place. I think it is too small and lack of parking space nearby.

I'm fine with the donation.

I can assist with selling some tickets for Tony Pua's visit. I'm really busy at work (and I still need to fix my ceiling!)

We can do raffle tickets at the dinner to raise more money and get some prizes donated on top of the issued dinner tickets. Or even get homemade goodies (get seller to sell at cost or donate). I see a lot of ppl advertising on AMWA about their 'culinary talents'. I guess anything that can be kept over for a few days might be worth selling?

Yes, Ray. It's Wednesday September 10, 2014. No problems with Old Cathay if he can make a reasonable offering for the fundraiser and a plus is the 100 pp capacity. Ask him to consider the fact that it's a fundraiser. Commit say 70, target the maximum 100. I only hesitated about Old Cathay due to a bad personal experience there recently.

If we can get this firmed up by this weekend, we can get the details printed for tickets and have plenty of time to sell the tickets. Believe Chin Pok controlling the issue of the online ticket and guest list, while Tony Ng is the banker for the collection of all ticket sale proceeds. Both of you will have to issue instruction and coordinate this. Can Adelene coordinate the additional fund raiser for the evening?

Believe the lunch seminar at Murdoch Uni, with lunch provided is all taken care by Greg and staff at Murdoch Uni. Let us know if you need a hand. Press Tony for synopsis of talk, both for the Uni consideration and for us to print on publicity flyer. Can someone help digital creation of both event flyers.

FYI, Tony will be arriving morning of Sept 10, and I'll be picking him up from the airport and shuttle him around for the day. He'll put up at my place before flying off the next morning to Adelaide for a similar visit to Malaysians in that city.

I've tried to add Greg to BMP mailing list but for some reason the member management function is gone! :( I can't figure out what happened... 

Greg, can your try to email 'bersihkan-ma...@googlegroups.com'? It should trigger a request to join the group, I hope.

Also, I can help with the flyer creation but can only start working on them from next week onwards as I got toooo much happening in my space. Let me know and get the content ready if you guys want me to do up the flyer.

    The ticket side is fine. Should not take me too long to design one and ready to go. As for design of poster, I will let Chom do that since his previous design turn out to be really good. I will coordinate with Tony about that.

We will have to put on hold the September 10 dinner fundraiser until the situation in Selangor is clear. Have asked Tony Pua about this and his reply is as follows:

If there is snap elections, as the DAP Selangor Chairman, I have to cancel all overseas engagements.

Despite PAS decision today, it's not all clear in the Selangor Assembly yet. Tony prefers not to confirm travel plans until the Sultan returns from holidays Aug 27. So we wait.
