Dear Comrades in Bersih Global,

The Bersih Secretariat in KL recently approved a Bersih Global (BG) campaign to recruit volunteers who will act as election observers and monitors in polling stations overseas AND in Malaysia. The campaign is already running in several countries, and volunteers are signing up as you read this email. We need you to join this global campaign and help us keep the voting process as clean as possible. (If you are already running your recruitment campaign, you do not need to continue reading.)

The recruitment campaign will live on the internet and use social media platforms like Facebook. A digital poster will be prepared for you if you join this campaign. Attached are examples of posters that are already being used (UK, France, Sydney).

The list of volunteers will eventually be passed on to all stakeholders in the electoral system, including Bersih, Tindak and political parties. These groups will send information and advice to the volunteers in your list. This part of the campaign will not be your responsibility.

HOW TO RUN THIS CAMPAIGN

Set up a dedicated email address (as in attached posters) to which people can write in and volunteer.
Reply this email with your new dedicated email address to: Kevin Bathman in Sydney at kevinbathman@gmail.com, who will email your poster to you. Please cc me at william...@gmail.com; (Please DO NOT REPLY TO ALL. People are already finding it difficult to cope with the flood of emails arriving everyday)
Appoint administrators who will respond to queries and compile the volunteer list. To prevent hacking, don't distribute username/password details widely - strictly restrict it to your chosen admin. You will all be told where to send your individual lists in a few weeks, or sooner.
email the posters to your network from these dedicated email addresses, and post them to your Facebook pages

In the long-term, this global network of dedicated email addresses will be the points of communication through which all information on Bersih activity and related campaigns will be distributed.

The final list of volunteers should have the following information:

volunteers' full names and email addresses
the overseas polling station at which they can help
the Malaysian town or city at which they can help, if they are returning home during the election period for whatever reason
the constituency in Malaysia they will be voting at, or visiting, if they know this

Sorry, we're already in, the campaign that is. Haven't got time to put material together. There's plenty out there, just have to sieve through and thinking of setting up an event page dedicated to the election count down.
