If your RayMarine Chart Plotter is losing position and takes more than a few seconds to find its position when you start it up, it can be fixed for about 50 cents. Ray Marine representatives may tell you to replace the gps unit on the deck of your boat (The little round thing with the blinking light) for around $200.00. There is a CR2032 3V Lithium battery in there that is easy to replace and costs about 50 cents. That is the same battery you will find in the key bob for your car.

As you and many others have experienced, when I have approached Raymarine with a problem with my 2005 vintage instruments, all the want to do is up-sell me with their newest and greatest and do not support their older equipment. On the advice from this site, I contacted Dan Gerhart using the form on the site, to replace the blackened LCD displays on my Ray Marine Tridata and 4200s Auto pilot. He responded immediately.I sent him the parts and a check and he repaired them and sent them right back. I just finished installing them and all is sweet. I recommend Dan without reservation.

I have used Dan twice for my ST5000 autopilot head computer. First time He sent me a replacement screen that I put in myself. It stopped working after a couple of times. Dan asked me to send the whole unit to him and he would send me a replacement unit.That unit is still working as a charm.

Hi Dan. I have a Autohelm ST7000. Now when I press auto it just flashes low battery with a continual alarm sound. I have checked all the connections which are good. Can you give any indication what is wrong. Kind regards Bob

I emailed Dan yesterday and learned from Raymarine that I cannot replace the ST6002 with the PS70 without buying a new evolution 200. I emailed Dan and he replied promptly with a repair quote. I will mail it it in once i take it off of the pedastel. Thanks very much.

Raytheon Anschtz, a business of Raytheon Technologies, recently launched NautoPilot 5000NX, a new autopilot for ships. Our latest advanced autopilot combines unique algorithms for precise steering performance with a wide range of fuel-saving features.

NautoPilot 5000NX clearly displays all navigational information on a 7-inch graphical touchscreen. Crews can rely on the new autopilot's intuitive operation that places heading, course, and track control steering modes at their fingertips.

Heading and Rudder Plot provides an instant overview of steering performance and simplifies the adjustment of autopilot settings for minimal rudder activity. Course Control mode steers the vessel on a course-over-ground line and automatically compensates for drift deviations. The traveled distance is minimized, and smaller rudder angles lead to less loss of speed compared to manual operation. Economy Mode offers permanent fuel savings by reducing rudder activity with the push of a button. The autopilot permanently monitors the actual yawing movements of the vessel, depending on load and sea conditions. Symmetrical movements, as well as movements that cannot be corrected due to the inertial behavior of the ship, are filtered out and not corrected by the autopilot. The Toe Angle function reduces fuel usage for vessels with dual rudders by optimizing steering characteristics via offsetting the rudders from each other.

In addition to its fuel-saving features, NautoPilot 5000NX offers significant improvements compared to its predecessors. Built on new standardized hardware, it offers a modern user interface and supports Ethernet communication that meets IEC 61162-450 standards.

Although Raytheon Anschutz PilotStar D is no longer manufactured, Mackay Marine is committed to servicing this product for as long as necessary. The replacement product, which features substantial upgrades, is the Raytheon PilotStar NX Autopilot.

Heading is input from magnetic compass (as NMEA telegram or via magnetic compass sonde) and gyro compass. Speed information is input as pulse or serial telegram. In addition the autopilot provides an interface for a central alarm system. An alarm is transferred to the central alarm panel and can be muted remotely. A steering repeater can be connected directly to PilotStar D to display both, the heading of magnetic or gyro compass.

I have a working Raytheon sport pilot autopilot for sale. Very clean unit. This unit mounts on your steering wheel shaft and then your wheel mounts on top of it. It comes complete fully tested and ready to go. It is well taken care of I have all the parts including a socket to remove your wheel as well as the manual and handy reference guide. I can also send you a video showing me testing it. This unit is complete for a mechanically steered system, you need additional accessories for a hydraulic system. You can always check Raymarine site and read the manual to see how this works. This unit comes with the motorhelm unit, fluxgate compass, installation Hardware . This unit has always been in freshwater, new these units retailed at $1,500. These units are not easy to find many people even buy a used one for a spare to have . It contains an electric motor and a turn signal type switch to activate the autopilot, which receives a signal from a compass that is installed near the center of the boat. And whether your boat is an inboard, outboard, or I/O, it will fit virtually every boat. To install, remove the steering wheel and attached the autopilot to the steering shaft. Then, install the compass.After installation - which only takes about an hour and half - you can simply put the boat on the desired heading, and turn the switch to auto.
