Hello Stephan,

sorry for the late response. Currently the SMS API , the /tmp/sms/ directory works  with text files and with simple Text Mode SMS. There is however the telnet interface of ISGWN on Port 54322 which is accessible via telnet/nc on localhost:

 telnet localhost 54322

here you have different commands, and one can be used to send AT commands to the Telit GSM Module:

atX:C

where X is the Port and C the command. Let's say you want to send the command AT to the module port 1, then you could do something like:

at1:AT

I wouldn't suggest to set the gsm module in PDU mode via this interface though, because it might create problems in the expectation of the running ISGW process. I would prefer to implement a PDU option for our text files in /tmp/sms, to make it possible to distinguish text and PDU sms.

We will discuss that and see when we can implement it.

regards,
Christian

Betreff: SMS send/receive PDU

Hello all,
I'm newbie on developping app for BeroFix.
I would like to send and receive SMS PDU over GSM modules (not only text). Is there an API to do so ?

Best regards,
Stephan

Hi Christian,
thank you very much for your answer and the options.
I can imagine that changing the SMS mode can introduce a big mess in the standard the software (ISGWN). The unattended messages will be completely different and unexpected.

I was also wondering if the data link is also supported (appearing as a serial device on which I could start ppp daemon, and the rest) ?

Just to give you more details for the reason I ask: I won't hide that I'm the former CTO of QuesCom, a leader GSM gateway manufacturer. The company has been closed.
I want to provide new solution to my customers who are expecting special features activated on a voice/sms/data gateway. I have a product of yours to evaluate the feasability of implementing all these kind of features on your product.

If you may be interested in such kind of projects, I think it would be good to talk together.

My Skype ID is quescom_malric

Looking forward to reading from you.

Stephan
