Youth Jam

Youth Jam is one of the coolest events you’ll find this year! Designed by teens for teens to inform the youth of Albuquerque about their RIGHTS as youth and the SERVICES available to them.
In May of 2008, the suicide of a high school senior in Albuquerque devastated the youth in the area. In a focus group, youth realized that the problem was not knowing where to turn to for help. Our idea of how to inform our peers about the services available was to put on a battle of the bands/poetry slam/art show directed to informing youth (25 and under) about the services available to them in regards to some of the most difficult problems we face.and stigma against mental health diagnoses. We are holding an event, Youth Jam, to raise awareness about available community services, and resourcese abuse, and stigma against mental health diagnoses.
