This group offers a space of exchange for scholars, writers, and artists in Berlin who can offer or are searching for housing in Berlin, both long and short term.

Prospective members are required to provide the moderators with a complete real name, institutional affiliation (if you have one), a link to a site where your professional identity can be verified, or some other means of establishing who you are. Please send us a link to your faculty, researcher, student or artist webpage or LinkedIn (or equivalent) to confirm your public identity.

All members must post under their full, real-life names (which does not necessarily need to conform to a legal/birth certificate, but does need to correspond to the complete name you use in public). Our goal is to prevent this platform from being used for commercial purposes. For market-based real estate searches and offers please use ImmoScout, WG-gesucht, Wunderflats or one of the other existing commercial platforms.

As the original Berlin Scholars listserv stopped accepting messages related to housing, so this mailing list was started in order to fill that gap, and to continue to offer a space--ideally one in which there is at least a minimal degree of trust--for cultural producers who are confronting the housing crisis in various ways. This list has no affiliation with the Berlin Scholars list.

Please send messages unrelated to housing through the Berlin Scholars listserv on yahoo, or through another channel.

To keep the volume of this listserv manageable, also please refrain from posting housing offers or requests that are outside of Europe, unless you are hoping to arrange a swap.

All posts are moderated, and so, will be sent to the group with a margin of delay.

Members who send out racist, sexist, or otherwise violent messages will be banned from the group.

Please note that members assume their own own risk in pursuing any agreements related to housing. Users are advised to exercise caution with respect to scams that seem to be on the rise as the housing market becomes more desperate.

The moderators and the listserv are not liable for any outcomes of these messages. Moderators will not involve themselves in any legal disputes.
