Next week's meetup

Hello people,

Next Monday (July 1st) we'll have our July meetup, again generously
hosted by Co.up.

I thought the open discussion format that we followed last time worked
great, but it'd probably be complemented well by a single talk. Does
anyone who's reading this want to give that talk? Reply here or mail
me privately to discuss talk ideas.

Well, it appears not a single attendant showed up today. I'm not quite
sure yet what that means for the continued existence of the meetup.
Maybe we should only schedule meetings when actual talks are
announced.

I think the compiler meetup is one of the highest quality meetups I go to. I think the topics are almost always very interesting, and I really enjoy talking with everybody, seems like everybody is smarter than me. I guess the not showing up might have to do with holidays (at least for me it did).

I do think that the discussion was night but it is easier to have a discussion after a talk, so yeah, maybe we should try to always have talks.

Okay. Good to hear people are enthusiastic about the meetup. We'll
probably never get beyond the stage where it's always a surprise
whether more than two people show up, in this obscure niche. But I
guess we can keep something going.

Next month's meetup would fall on the 5th. If someone wants to do a
(lightning-)talk, I'll schedule it. If not, we'll consider it part of
the summer break and try again in September.

Hey everyone,

I agree that it would be a shame to see this meetup die. I'm not in Berlin at the moment, but the Compiler meetup has always been the most interesting meetup for me and I plan to attend again once I'm back in the city.

i'm really sad i missed the last n dates bc of work & vacation... and am looking forward to the next meeting.
