Green Team News

The Green Team is kicking off a month of "Eating Local" in May with family field trips to the South Berkeley Farmer's Market. Everyone is welcome to join us at the Market on Tuesday, April 30 at the corner of Adeline St and Alcatraz Ave for personalized tours of the stands and introductions to the farmers/vendors. These tours will be led by Berkwood Hedge parent Eduardo Morell (of the Farmer's Market stand, Morell's Bread) at both 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Please come at whichever time works best for you. We'll have fun sampling and learning a little more about our food as we enjoy the company of friends. RSVPs are not required, but please send an e-mail to Sarah Moore, smile...@gmail.com, if you are planning to make it (with the number of people and time) so that we know to look for you.

As for "Eating Local" -- we will be providing tips and events throughout the month of May on ways to find, enjoy, and celebrate foods that are grown close to where we live. Local foods offer fresh, seasonal tastes and minimize the environmental impacts of transport. They can also offer community and a sense of connection, as we'll get to experience at the Farmer's Market tours. Your ideas are very welcome and we hope you can join us on April 30 as we launch into this month of local food fun!
