I was talking with my cousin about our desire to cancel Comcast cable TV and just get HDTV over the air for free using an antenna. He said he had tried it in Reading but the reception was terrible with the cheap antenna he had because the nearest tower is pretty far away. That's when he sent me a link to instructions he wanted to try to make your own antenna that is supposed to be very effective using not much more than a couple wire coat hangers and a $5 plug from Radio Shack that is supposed to be as good as the $80 antennas at Best Buy. I thought this would make for a great Berks CoLab project! I setup a page with more info on our wiki at: http://wiki.berkscolab.org/wiki/DTV_Antenna

I am sure I have a number of the matching transformers so you don't need to purchase one. I just read an article in Popular Science on the exact same antenna.

Awesome!
Does anyone happen to have a store-bought antenna that we could use to compare the performance of the DIY version?
