Cheatingin a Grand Theft Auto game is a decades-old tradition. Whether you want help with a mission, or have a craving to wreak havoc on the streets, they're there for the player to use as they wish.
The debate will run until the end of days surrounding the best GTA 5 cheat, but we're big fans of the Buzzard attack chopper. Armed with miniguns and rocket pads, it's one of the best ways to cause chaos and have some mindless fun in the world.
While most GTA games simply allow you to type in a cheat code while your character is walking around, GTA 5 has a few different ideas to mix up that formula. Depending on which platform you're playing on, here's how to use GTA 5 cheat codes:
Afraid not. There's no money cheat code in GTA 5. The developers from Rockstar like players to have some fun with cheating, but they have not provided a way to make a ton of free cash, which is not in the least bit surprising.

GTA 5 cheats and the corresponding GTA 5 cheat codes are a staple of any GTA plathrough at this point, being the easiest way to get straight to the fun - which most of the time means straight to the invincibility, weapons, ammo and of course helicopters.
For a full list of all GTA 5 cheats, console commands, and phone numbers, then, you've come to the right page. Do note that for money, however, it's confirmed that there's absolutely no specific GTA 5 money cheat - but there are some alternatives. If that's what you're after, we have a guide on how to make money in GTA 5 that'll have you rolling with the elite in no time!
GTA 5 added some interesting ways to input cheats on top of the good old controller button-mashing codes. On consoles, you can input those controller codes or, alternatively, whip out the in-game cell phone to dial in a number that activates the cheat instead.
On PC, you can do either of those things and also use console commands - the commands are actually the words spelled out by the phone numbers, which is a nice touch (giving you things like 1-999-LAWYERUP)!
There is a decent range of cheats available for GTA 5 players, but it's worth noting that some classics are missing - there's no way to spawn yourself a tank for instance, plus no actual, official money cheat - despite what a lot of people will tell you!
Otherwise, there are a couple of final things to bear in mind: first, you won't be able to unlock achievements or trophies, or get anything other than a Bronze rating on missions, in a session where cheats have been activated. Second, all of these cheats are purely offline only - cheats are disabled in GTA Online, due to the pretty obvious disrupted effect they'd otherwise have!
Xbox Series X/S, Xbox 360 and Xbox One GTA cheats work in the same way as they do on PlayStation platforms: you can enter them at any point in offline mode by using the controller inputs listed below, or by dialling the cell phone numbers listed next to them.
The only thing to note is that the buttons don't always line up exactly with their counterparts on PlayStation - so just because you have, say, the Invincibility cheat burned into your muscle memory on one platform, that doesn't mean it's the exact same buttons on the other. Double check the list below when in doubt!
You can also use the cell phone numbers - listed in the tables below alongside the cheat codes - to enter the same cheats if you prefer. To do so, simply bring up your phone and dial the number listed next to the cheat you're after.
As we mentioned above, cheats on PCs work a little differently to their counterparts on consoles. You can still use a controller to input them - we've used Xbox button names below, as that's the most popular choice of PC gamepad - but otherwise the main ways of inputting them are via the in-game cell phone (again, bring it up in-game and dial the below numbers to use the cheats), or alternatively you can use console commands.
Instead, you have to put in the work yourself - and thankfully, we can help with our GTA 5 stock market explainer, which offers a step-by-step breakdown of how you can use stock market assassinations to boost your capital.
These additional cheats only work in newer versions of GTA 5 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS and PC). Also, unlike all the other cheats above, you need to unlock each vehicle first by doing a random event, and only then can you spawn it with a phone cheat code.
To use the cell phone method, bring out your phone, go to your contacts and press either SQUARE on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or SPACEBAR or MIDDLEMOUSEBUTTON on PC. The dialpad will popup. Then just enter in the number code for the cheat and press the same button again to dial/activate it.
To disable or turn off a cheat that you have activated, simply enter the cheat code / button combo for it again. For cheats that have progressive effects (like the weather cheat or slow motion aim), you might need to enter the code again multiple times to cycle through all the different effects until you get to the one that disables the cheat.
Okay so I thought I would ask this here. I don't play on PS so I don't know the issue but my younger bro tries to get cheats going and says if he does one cheat, he can't do another. Don't they stack? At least for the most part? I never had an issue like this.
Some cheats get canceled out by others but a lot of them stack and you can have most of them going at the same time. Just consider which are being used. GTA SA had better cheats for this kind of stuff and allowed for more variety. Like one example is giving everyone a gun and putting chaos mode on.
I don't know if anyone knows this here but in terms of stacking the same cheat, which ones can you do over and over again to increase or decrease the result? An example of one I know of is the slow-down aim cheat. You can stack this 4 times.
On a side note. I was trying to make it so you can disable the cops but the cheat doesn't seem to last or be permanent. I was just trying to mess with some different explosives but I wanted to make it so I wouldn't get a wanted level. I can only lower it but not actually "suspend" it. Am I overlooking the cheat or something?
There isn't a cheat to disable the cops. Just to remove wanted levels. And even if you keep doing it, it just ends up building back up which is annoying. Isn't there a "God mode" to prevent damage though?
Is there a code for making it so cars can fly? I know the one variation of the car can fly. I can't remember what it is called but I mean standard cars and bikes that otherwise can't. Anything like this?
The supposed "god move" always felt weak to me. Putting it on a timer like that. It should be something you turn on and off like all other games that allow for such a cheat. Maybe they will change this for GTA 6.
I think we got some good ones but compared to other GTA titles, the cheat list just felt underwhelming overall. Or is that just me? Like for real, I played around with cheats in past games and has way more fun with it.
It isn't just you. There were a lot of cheats that should have been included. A lot of people speculated that they were originally part of the game but had a high chance of breaking/crashing the game so they removed them.
So I have to ask... When you dial " 199946844557 " into your phone, does it actually trigger a cheat code for getting money? I saw it a few times floating around online but when I did try it, nothing seemed to happen for me. You are meant to get a lot of money.
Please keep in mind that I only have the PC version of these games, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of any of the console cheats. Unless otherwise indicated, cheats are done during gameplay and are based on the default control configuration. If you have changed any controls, either try the cheats with the corresponding keys you've assigned, or revert to the defaults before entering cheats.
NOTE: Where the codes differ, this page lists both PAL and NTSC PlayStation codes. PAL and NTSC are the two main formats used by television manufacturers worldwide. Most TVs and consequently most game consoles sold in the Americas, Japan and South Korea are NTSC format; most TVs and consoles sold in the rest of Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia are PAL format. If you're not sure which version you have, there should be a sticker on the bottom of the console indicating one or the other format. You can also find more information on Wikipedia's PAL and NTSC pages.
