Interview Project

Hey everybody one of our members is doing a research project and I just thought I'd send out a little info in case anyone is interested.

Hello everyone my name is Jessie Turner

I am a graduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara in  the 
Chicana/o Studies program, currently conducting research in the Bay  Area. I 
have European, Mexican, and US Indigenous ancestry. Because of  my experiences, 

for my dissertation I am looking at the identities and  experiences of other 
people who also have multiple ancestries. The way  that I will be doing this is 
by collecting in-person oral history  interviews with people who have Mexican 

and another background, in order  to get their stories. 

I am looking for participants 18 and older who: 
1. have more than one ethnic/racial ancestry, however far back, with one being 
Mexican/Mexican American, 

2. have grown up in the US, 
3. live in or around Oakland/Berkeley, and 
4. are interested in talking  with me in person about their experiences. 

Participants  should have Mexican/Mexican American heritage in addition to at 

least  one other heritage--for example, Mexican and Salvadoran, white and  
Mexican, Mexican and African American,  Japanese and Mexican, Cherokee and 
Italian and Mexican, etc. This can  also include people  who are "only 

Mexican/Mexican American," but who are aware of an  ancestor, however far back, 
who was from a different ethnic or racial  group. 

Oral history interviews usually last 1-2 hours and are recorded. Participants 

have the option of remaining anonymous.
