Hi everyone,

I was very sad to learn from an AC Transit press release that Chris
Peeples has passed away.

https://www.actransit.org/press-release/honoring-the-memory-of-board-director-he-christian-peeples

I first met Chris at BerkleyLUG back when we were meeting at Bobby G's
and I was really happy about his commitment to Linux. It was lovely to
run into him over the years and learn all the great work he's done for
AC Transit, the last time I saw him was probably a year ago when he
was representing AC Transit at a booth at a local festival where I now
live in Castro Valley.

to Berkeley Linux Users Group (BerkeleyLUG), Elizabeth K. Joseph
Lyz, thanks for letting us know.

Many of us knew Chris from his great involvement in
Linux User Groups (LUGs), e.g. BerkeleyLUG.com,
and his great useful advocacy of Open Source and Linux,
or his AC Transit or ham radio activities, etc.
Always a very friendly practical helpful resource,
in so many ways. Also highly knowledgeable on so many matters of
AC Transit and public transportation and related matters much more
generally too. He certainly shall be missed.

I'll pass along the information to at least some relevant LUGs (
CABAL (Conspire list on linuxmafia.com)
SF-LUG.org
BALUG.org ("Talk" list, and when the "Announce" has it's next send,
include brief mention and link to the "Talk" posting))

That's very sad news, here too, to read about Chris Peeples' passing away 😞
2c: Chris, may he R.I.P. was always very approachable both within and outside of the LUG meetups, and would readily expound upon his knowledge and expertise of at least Public Transit-related subjects like Hydrogen and Fuel-cell Technology; Technology (and not just Linux and Open Source, but Microsoft Inc's, Apple Inc's, Google Inc's, Amazon Inc's, and other companies' technology offerings as well); the SF Bay Area's on up to National Politics/History; and the list goes on and on. Among the last email messages he sent to this group itself were his inclusion of his telling signature cursing out Putin's Russia over its invasion 😠 of Ukraine 🇺🇦
IMHO, Chris was a bona fide living link between the late 20th Century Past and the recent early 21st Century Present.

R.I.P.  Chris!
