Hey folks,
if the food co-op committee meetings aren't for you, the food co-op may be submitting a proposal to start a big organic vegetable garden on campus. If you're interested in making that happen for the food co-op but have never gardened before, consider signing up for this DeCal to pick up some skills.

Hey Folks!

If anyone needs 1 or 2 units in exchange for 3/6 hours in the sunshine, gardening and working on community food security, nutrition, or environmental education consider signing up for ESPM 98/198- the Berkeley Urban Gardening Internship (BUGI)

There will be 2 info sessions

Monday August 31st at 4pm in the Student Organic Garden on Walnut and Virginia

Tuesday Sept 1st at 6pm in 132 Mulford

Here is a description of the program

This internship program is designed to help introduce and place UC Berkeley students into garden communities and community food programs throughout the East Bay area. Each student will independently choose a program/organization that seeks volunteers from our community. The choice of program is entirely up to the student based on his/hers area of interest whether that may be herb gardens, community gardens, school gardens/kitchens, community food security projects or nutrition etc... The coordinators will provide the students with an extensive list of programs that are seeking volunteers and wish to work with Cal students. Once a program is selected, the student will then contact the program manager or garden manager to set up a schedule that works best for both of them. The objective of BUGI is to encourage students to get off campus and into our community while learning through hands on work, and giving their much needed time to our many neighborhood gardens.
