1. 115th Big Game Viewing and Touch Football Game

The Berkeley and Stanfurd clubs invite you to a viewing of the 115th Big Game. Watch The California Golden Bears host the Stanford Cardinals at Berkeley's Memorial Coliseum in this classic collegiate rivalry for The Axe. We will also be playing a game of touch football for our very own version of the Singapore Axe between Stanford and Berkeley alumni. The Golden Bears beat the Cardinals in the inaugural game two years ago in a sudden death overtime touchdown.

Please RSVP your interest, especially if you are interested in playing football. Men and women are equally welcome.

*Also, if you know any Stanford alumni whom you think might be interested in playing, please bring them along. The Farm's club is having trouble recruiting players. Tsk, tsk.

11. King’s College London Singapore Society Trend Talk Series: Part I “The 13th Malaysian Elections – Impact on the Malaysian political & social environment and possible effects on Singapore”

The Malaysian ruling party Barisan National is facing its greatest challenge ever with a possible “hung” parliament, and whose fate could be decided by the mood of politicians in the Bornean states of Sarawak and Sabah. There are many questions the upcoming election raises - from leadership challenge within UMNO (Najib vs Muhyiddin) to hudud law.

Malaysia today is unlike five years ago. The mass protests by the Bersih Movement (Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections) as well as the Green Movement (Himpunan Hijau) are examples of the simmering changes that threaten the country’s stability. However, a stable Malaysia is very important to Singapore in view of its proximity and the global economic uncertainties. Malaysia is Singapore’s largest trading partner with total trade amounting to S$112 billion in 2011.

We hope you can join us for this closed door talk, discussion and networking session.

Dr Noor is in constant touch with the ground in Malaysia and will discuss some of the pertinent political and social changes currently taking place.
