Hello everyone,
I need help to solve issue.
There are several glasses with own tvis, tsol etc. parametrs.
When I create a new position in the Glass Library in Window and calculate glass unit using that glasses it appears next information:
‘One of the layers for Glazing System does not have detailed spectral data or the spectral data analysis was disabled in Preferences. This may result in incorrect results for optical properties such as SHGC and TVIS. Custom layers with detailed spectral data can be created in Optics and imported into the Window Library’
I supose that any glasses need to be imported from the Optics.
So is it posible create new glasses with its own parametrs in Optics? I could import only glasses from Optics's Main Database.

Thanks!

Hi Zugur,
The steps for creating a user database in Optics and importing files into that db
is available at

Once you have a user db you can import records from that into WINDOW

The definition for the text file format that you import into Optics is at

If you just copy a record in the Glass Library, only averaged optical values are created, but the spectral data is not created.

If you want to make a glass layer with spectral data, you would need to determine the detailed spectral data, which is generally done by measuring the glass in a spectrophotometer.

If you put the data in a certain format, then it can be imported into Optics, including the associated spectral data. This would be saved into the Optics User Database, and then that glass layer could be imported from the Optics User Database into the WINDOW Glass Library.

If the glass you are interested in modeling is from a specific manufacturer, you might contact them to see if they had the measured spectral data for it.

Here is a link to a web page that has links to a document detailing the format that is required to be imported into Optics, as well as links to example files for specific types of glass. The information is for glass manufacturers submitting data to the IGDB, but the information is relevant to how to import glass spectral data into Optics

The relevant section is under More Information (at the bottom of the web page), then expand the section called "IGDB Data Format".

And this Knowledge Base article under Optics explains about importing the spectral data file into Optics.

Dear Robin and Jacob,

It was really useful and helped me!
Thanks a lot!
