Hi everyone,

With Window 7.8.28.0 I've started to run into issues when calculating complex glazing's containing shadings with BSDF and wavelength selective glasses.

The calculation seems to run smoothly until the final integration and then stops with "Exception occurred in CGlzSysRS::DoCalc"

I've attached a screenshot of the issue with a setup of layers from the IGDB and the CGDB. I've also attached the results for the same system from Window 7.7 that a colleague, who still has the old installation, ran for me. It seems to run smooth in7.7, although the nominal thickness of the shade layer in that version is surprising.

The issue is in no way limited to those specific layers, rather it seems to always occur when a shade with BSDF scattering is combined with a wavelength selective coated glass pane.

After acknowledging the error the program seems to have run into a faulty state and will report to have run out of memory for every subsequent action you take until it is restarted, even with plenty of RAM still available.

Tested and replicated on two separate machines with the current installation of Window.

 With best regards

Thomas

Thank you for posting this issue. I will look into it - hopefully I will be able to reproduce your error and can send it on to our programmers to investigate.

After the first error, do you get a System Resources Exceeded message?

I am seeing that issue in several shading system calculations that I am doing, and we are working to discover the problem.

Thomas,

layer 2 (shading layer) thickness is set to -1. Can you update the thickness to some positive number and try again? Also I cannot see what is the record ID for that shading layer? If you can send that number to me I can check if that thickness is indeed correct. If you have created that shading layer then it would be interesting to know how did you manage to get thickness to -1 so we can prevent it in the future.

Thanks,
Simon

Simon and Thomas

The thickness of the shading system is set to 1.0, it is not negative.

I get the same error with this configuration.

I will make an issue for the programmers to look into this.

Dear Simon and Robin,

Thanks for looking into this.
Yes, I do get the system resources exceeded message you posted. Sorry for being imprecice in the original post, I was not sure what the original english message on this errror would be.

@Simon: The shading ID is 10003 and i have not changed the thickness manualy. As mentioned above, the thickness in Window 7.8 is properly displayed as 1.0, its just in the runing simulation in Window 7.7 that the thickness is displayed as -1.0
As this was calculated on the computer of a colleague I am not sure if this may have been an issue with an outdated version of the IGDB or anything insider the code of Window.

Let me know if I can be of any further help on this issue!

Hi, have you figured out how to fix this issue??

Best,

The solution is to run this glazing system with "Condensed spectral data". One of the glass layers has 600+ wavelengths, which WINDOW can't deal with.
