I'm trying to import a .xml file generated using genBSDF into WINDOW 8 as a custom shading layer. The layer represents a metal mesh with 2.5 cm diameter circle, incremental perforations.
However, every time I attempt to import this XML file, WINDOW 8 crashes or exits unexpectedly. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
File is attached.
Here are a few details:
The BSDF file was generated using genBSDF with default settings.
The mesh includes evenly spaced perforations across a flat surface.
I’m using the latest version of WINDOW 8.
The XML appears to be valid, but I’m unsure if the format is fully compatible with WINDOW.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
One fix to prevent crashing was to add thermal properties in the "header" (after Thickness)
<ThermalConductivity>100</ThermalConductivity><EmissivityFront>0.3</EmissivityFront><EmissivityBack>0.3</EmissivityBack><TIR>0.2</TIR><PermeabilityFactor>0.2</PermeabilityFactor>
One thing that doesn't seem to prevent calculation but is suspect from a physics point of view is that there are no Solar properties included.
Somehow W7.8 calculated without that, and there is no reason to believe that Tvis would be wrong. But other properties (SHGC and U-value) should not be trusted.
