Hello everybody,

I have a question for you, I am trying to generate in WINDOW 7.7 five files xml to use as BSDFs materials in Honebee+ in a three-phase daylight analysis. I managed to set up the layers which constitute my glazing surface, together with the shading blinds in front of them tilted at different angles for the 5 different cases. When I press calc(F9) to generate the file, at the end of the process, I get the message that "despite the calculation should be right, the results should not be used for energy calculations since the gap between shading device and glass is too wide" (but I suppose this is not a problem for me since I just want to run daylight studies).

The issue that I have is that the xml file contains almost all values with 0 or really small numbers (like three decimal spaces with zero and then a number) and when I use this files as BSDF materials in Honeybee, I get a value of 0 from the daylight simulation. Do you have any idea why I get files with so low values? Am i maybe doing something wrong in setting up materials or running the calculation?

I have attached a couple of pictures of how the case with the Venetian blind at 0 degrees is configured and its xml file with the low values.

Thank you in advance for your availability,
Matteo

Your BSDF file looks fine to me. You can check your BSDF using BSDFViwer to verify it behaves as expected. For you blinds, looks like it blocks direct-sun greater than 45 deg altitude.
I suggest you check your three-phase calculation.

Thank you for the support, the 0 value in the daylight simulation was due to a mistake in the orientation of the window's geometry so now I get consistent results. By the way, I am not able to use the Viewer on my Window laptop, I have downloaded it from the Radiance web page, but when I try to install it I get this message (see attached capture), does someone know how to solve the issue?

Hi Matteo, do you have Java support installed?

Best, Lars.
