Hi,

I have a quick question regarding a glazing layer that is not available in IGDB. Could you please advise on the procedure to add a new custom layer in the glass section within the window software?

Thank you,
K. Hossain

A similar question was asked in this forum, under the title of "Adding new glass(PE-PVC-PC-PMMA)". You might want to look at those suggestions. What I am writing below is very similar to what is in that thread.

The first option is to try to find a glass layer that is close enough to the one you want to model and use that.

In WINDOW, when you make a new glass layer, you are only specifying the spectrally averaged properties, and the record will not contain the detailed optical properties for each wavelength, which is why it is best to try to use an existing record from the IGDB.

If you do want to make a new layer, the best option would be to create it in Optics, which would get saved to the Optics user database, and then it can be imported into WINDOW.

To make the new layer in Optics, you will still want to find a close match, and then change the thickness or other properties that can be changed in Optics.
Here is a link to a Knowledge Base article about how to do that

Alternatively, you might try contacting the manufacturer to see if they can provide detailed spectral data, which could be imported into Optics, and then into WINDOW.
