At the Monday night meeting, a CLA member talked about having bags of
used needles from sick animals and not wanting to throw them into the
garbage.
There is help! At least in Alameda County, there is a comprehensive
website at
http://www.StopWaste.Org (it is the Alameda County Waste
Management Authority and the Alameda County Source Reduction and
Recycling Board operating as one public agency).
It talks about how to dispose of "sharps" waste in Alameda county:

1. You have to get a "sharps container"
Obtain a sharps container from your medical provider or local pharmacy
where you purchase your injectable supplies.
If you have difficulty finding your first container, call us - we can
help. We can even get you your first one free if you can’t find it at
your local drug store. Call us at
510-670-6460 or toll-free
1-800-606-6606 or email
HHWS...@acgov.org for more details.
2. Check our schedule and bring it to one of our Household Hazardous
Waste Facilities
Oakland facility, 2100 East 7th Street, Oakland
Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM
http://www.stopwaste.org/home/index.asp?page=577
3. Keep the container in the passenger compartment with you separate
from any other waste you may bring, and let the greeter know you have
sharps with you when you arrive.
4. Fill out and hand waste delivery form

Thought this information might be useful to others who want to make
sure their waste is disposed of correctly!
