Building A Bio-Economy

Event Co-hosts: Cleantech Open,
Advanced Biofuels Process Demonstration Unit & Joint BioEnergy Institute
of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Tuesday April 15 | 2014 | 9:00a - 12:30p

Join us to learn about the 2014 Cleantech Open accelerator program and technology directions in scaling biofuel processing up.

The keynote speaker of the event will be Blake Simmons, Vice-President, Deconstruction Division of Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), who will speak about research and scale-up of biorefinery.

At this briefing, we will give you an overview of the Cleantech Open. With over 850 companies served and more than $900 million raised, you’ll be in great company. You will learn about our 2014 Business Accelerator and how to accelerate your cleantech startup with expert training, national visibility, and investor engagement. Any given company could win up to $230,000 in award cash, investment, and services.

David Smernoff, CEO of Heliobiosys, will tell you about their innovation in reducing the cost of sugar feedstock. Heliobiosys was one of the 2013 Cleantech Open Accelerator companies. David will also speak about how the Cleantech Open mentors helped them along in their building their business.

Don’t have your own cleantech company? In addition to great networking, the event will include information about how you can get involved as a Cleantech Open volunteer, mentor, judge, investor and more.

Following the presentations, you are invited to tour the ABPDU and JBEI facilities.
