Glowing Plant ran the first ever Kickstarter campaign for a synthetic biology application (http://kck.st/ZMIFXQ). We are looking to hire an additional scientist/intern with an entrepreneurial mindset to develop a new product line targeted to the DIY Bio market. We work out of a lab in SOMA which is 2 blocks from Caltrain. Initially this role is scoped as an internship with the possibility to expand to a full time position later.

Responsibilities:
•    Main role is to develop a new transformation kit targeted to DIY Bio market:
o    Develop and test the lab protocols for kit
o    Develop instruction materials (paper and online videos)
o    Supervise packaging & fulfillment of the kits (service outsourced)
o    Lead analysis of results for backers
o    Bonus points: support marketing & user acquisition

Ideal background
•         Minimum of BS (but masters preferred) in molecular biology or related field with lab experience, more qualified candidates welcome to apply as we do have flexibility in the role
•         Interest in biotech startup career / DIY Bio
•         Excellent oral and written communication skills
•         Fun and friendly with good interpersonal skills
•         Proficient with all basic computer skills
