Its that time of the year
once again, when amateur radio and the NWS join together to celebrate SKYWARN
Recognition Day! Also note that the 2009 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season ends on
Monday, November 30 and Meteorological Winter starts on Tuesday December
1!
This year's 24 hour, round
the clock, amateur radio operating event will start at 7:00 PM local time
(0000z) on Friday, December 4 and run through 7:00 PM local time (0000z) on
Saturday December 5.
"SKYWARNTM Recognition Day was
developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay
League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARNTM radio operators make to the National Weather
Service. During the day SKYWARNTM operators
visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world."
Complete information on the
event, including the list of participating NWS locations (FYI, as usual, both
NWS New York (Upton) and NWS Mt Holly will be operating) is available at the
links below, as well as from links on our Website www.bergenskywarn.org
From the
BergenSkywarn Team, we wish all of you and your families a Happy and Safe
Thanksgiving Holiday as well as to those of you taking part in SKYWARN
Recognition Day, a high number of radio contacts as part
of a successful and fun SKYWARN Recognition Day
2009!
