Cassette Transport is an audio effect in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats (only 64-bit plugin hosts are supported). It simulates the gradual tape speed changes that occur when pressing the transport buttons on an old cassette player. In addition to the shift in pitch caused by the tape slowing down or speeding up, the plugin also blends in the noise of the physical buttons being pressed.

As for the interface, Cassette Transport looks gorgeous and provides an intuitive control scheme. The interface design is clean and minimal, with labels under each control parameter. The plugin supports host automation and the accessible parameters are all properly named for easy automation setup.

The tape stop effect takes place when you play back the track in which you have put the plugin and push the stop switch. If the plugin is in stop mode while the audio track is played back, the track stays muted until you push the start button of the plugin. And, as may guess, that triggers the tape start effect.

What you get is more than a basic tape stop/start plugin. Cassette Transport has some cool cassette recorder noises which you can use in conjunction with the tape stop and start effects or on their own. These sounds are dope in lofi productions but you can take them a step further by processing them heavily with huge reverbs, pitch shifting etc. and get some crazy mechanical robot noises out of them. Just be creative:-)

Of course all the basic tape stop effects are covered with Cassette Transport and can be used with or without the button and transport noises. On top the length of the start and stop effects can be tempo synced, which makes the plugin suitable as a rhythmic tool.

I thoroughly enjoyed your review of Cassette Transport. I had no idea such technology existed. From what I am reading here it looks like this effect is only used when playing back a recording, not when playing or recording live music.

I have had many years experience playing with a few different bands in my younger years and I remember how wonderful it was to have an amplifier that could produce a reverberation or echo, way cool right.

This tape stop effect is something new that I have never heard in my life. I really enjoyed reading and learning more about this device. During our childhood days, we have used manual tape-recorders and this recollects my good old days of the past. I really enjoyed gaining more insight about this product.
