Hey guys, I've been trying to render my final video in vegas for a
couple of hours now. Everytime I start the rendering, it gets part way
through then either crashes or freezes. I've tried rendering it with
different settings and to different video formats, but nothing seems
to fix the problem. I found one thing online that suggested it could
be a memory issue, so I closed all other programs I had running and
that didn't do anything.

any advice would be fantastic

oh and just one other bit of info about it, when it renders a little
bit, the % through it gets changes everytime. I just got it to 57% and
was really hopeful it would work, but other times its as low as 7%.

hey dude i had the same problem and only found one solution which was
'video for windows (*.avi)' option with pal dv as template. Try that.

hope it works!

How long is the video, and what resolution did you capture the
original footage? Both of those could contribute to the memory issue.
Perhaps you could try rendering out a portion of the video to see if
that works. Have you been able to render out any video previously?

the video is 1:55 long, and i captured it at 1440x700, which was the
native resolution that cryengine displayed the game viewport on my
monitor. I set up vegas to work in that resolution so i thought it
would be ok, but do you think that would be a problem?

I tried rendering again a minute ago, with a performance test running
next to the vegas window. The memory load never go higher than about
26%, but the cpu got up to around 70%. So I don't think it would be
the memory.

oh and I finally got a proper error message instead of just a crash.
It said:

"application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

process ID=0x1378 (4984), Thread ID=0x12e8 (4840)."

any ideas?

Have you been able to export any video using vegas, did you have the
same problems with the Task from week 5? I'd suggest opening a new
vegas file and keeping it short and smaller resolution to see if it
will export, just to test whether it is a problem with Vegas itself or
that particular vegas file. 1280x720 is a standard size that should be
as big as you need go, I think Russell uses 720x480 in his Vegas
Tutorial video.
You should make it smaller regardless of whether it is the problem in
Vegas because it will take a while to upload it to youtube otherwise.

yeah i had no trouble doing week 5's work, but now i do for some
reason :(

i tried changing the resolution to both of those smaller ones, but
still no luck. What i ended up doing was maximising the preview box in
vegas and just doing a screencapture of that as it played through.
Little editing in the screencapture program and it turned out semi-
reasonable. Its a little choppy, but it should hold up.

Thanks for trying to help me though guys.
