Kolkata born, St. Xavier Kolkata alum, Prof. Sugata Mitra won the prestigious TED Prize of US$1million. He is currently the professor of educational technology at Newcastle University, UK (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/ecls/staff/profile/sugata.mitra ). His research suggests building schools in the internet cloud where young minds can learn and these classes will be overseen by a global network of retired teachers who will connect with classes/students by online video chats, but an adult will be on-site to keep watch. A proud moment for all of us/Bongs and also for any Indian (the first Indian to win).
